She was of the Presbyterian faith and had a great love for gospel, country and bluegrass music. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wiley Carmack Sr., and a grandson, Eddie Sowder. Coulthard RICH VALLEY, Va. – Alvie T. Coulthard, age 90, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, in a tragic farm accident. Born Feb. 27, 1914, in Rich Valley, to the late Marion Arthur and Fanny Belle Buchanan Coulthard, he was the second of seven children. Mr. Coulthard was a retired coal miner working 43 years in McDowell County, W.Va., and Buchanan County, Va., for Island Creek Coal Company. He was also a lifelong member of Goodman Chapel United Methodist Church, holding the oldest membership within the church. He spent the last 30 years on the farm he grew up on, doing the things he loved to do. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coulthard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Anna Baisden Coulthard; a daughter, Brenda Hardy; a sister, Marilou Compton; and a brother, Bill Coulthard. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Joseph Reed of Buchanan, W.Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Judy Coulthard of Rich Valley; a son-in-law, Fletcher Hardy of Bluefield, W.Va.; a sister and brother- in-law, June and David Overbay of Chilhowie; three brothers and two sisters-in- law, James T. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Gibson, and son, Billy W. Gibson. Lillie Stiltner Ramey GRUNDY – Lillie Bea Stiltner Ramey, 91 years of age, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at her home. Born in Dickenson County, May 8, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Holden (L.H.) Stiltner and Maggie Owens Stiltner. She was owner/operator of Ramey Grocery, where she worked as a merchant for 60 years, was a faithful Christian and prayer warrior for over 60 years and read the Bible completely through several times. Her favorite scripture was "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give the desires of your heart." She fought the good fight and kept the faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great- great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawson Ramey, one son, Ennis Ramey, and one foster daughter, Linda Thompson. She is survived by four daughters, Ruby Helen Justus and Madeline Fletcher and husband Paul, all of Grundy, Irene S. She was born Oct. 5, 1930, in St. Paul, Va., a daughter of the late Robert and Pearl Wheeler Holbrook, and had made her home in Bristol most of her life. Mrs. Roberts was a former employee of the Big Jack Manufacturing Company and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Roberts was the widow of Lewis Comer and was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Comer.
