Clarence Charles Wilson, Kingsport Pauline Aiken Bagby ABINGDON – Mrs. Pauline Aiken Bagby, age 94, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at the Westhaven Living Center in Abingdon. She was a former resident of Richmond, before moving to the Abingdon a few years ago. Mrs. Bagby was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Gothan. She is survived by a son, John Bagby III of Richmond; a daughter, Pauline Bagby Gothan of Abingdon; a sister, Phyllis A. Todd of Richmond; five granddaughters, Helen G. Henley of Abingdon, Anne G. Thompson of Harrisonburg, Va., Lee B. Vivarette of Richmond, Sarah P. Bagley of Richmond and Elizabeth Bagby of Charleston, S.C.; nine great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Tom Caldwell ABINGDON – Walter Thomas Caldwell, age 63, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at the Welmont Bristol Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. Born on Dec. 29, 1940, in the Bethel Community of Washington County, Tom was a son of Mary Virginia Caldwell and the late T.C. Caldwell. Tom had owned and operated AIM Supply Company for 30 years and was a faithful member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, where he had served as deacon and elder. An avid and experienced horseman, Tom raised and bred American quarter horses. With the love that he had for his horses, Tom was able to promote their well-being and the joy that they brought him through his membership and support of the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Foundation. Tom was a long-time member of the Liberty Hall Masonic Lodge 140 of AF & AM. In addition to his mother, Tom, a faithful servant of his Lord, is survived by his wife Wilma; sons, Greg Caldwell and wife Patty of Meadowview, Jon Caldwell and wife Erin of Raleigh, N.C., and Bracken Caldwell of the home; daughters, Kellie Frost and husband Steve and Kerrie Bishop and husband Mike, all of Damascus; his brother, Billy Lynn Caldwell of Abingdon; an aunt, Mary Craig Rhea of Meadowview; an uncle, Harry Minton of Portland, Tenn.; grandchildren, Savannah Caldwell, Rachel and Claudia Frost, Hannah and Dillon DeArmond, Brady Bishop and Olivia and Sophia Caldwell; step- granddaughters, Amanda and Ashton Bishop, as well as his many wonderful sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Hill was also a retired U.S. Civil Service aircraft mechanic, with the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Va. He was the son of the late Berl M. and Nellie Branson Hill. Johnson FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Karen Thompson Johnson , age 45, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, in Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C., after a courageous seven-year battle with hepatitis C. Karen was an insurance agent with Fox Insurance. She enjoyed reading and was very talented in home decorating and landscaping with her flower gardens. As an outdoors person she loved camping and animals, especially dogs. She was a longtime member of Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon, a Stephen minister and was involved in the Monday morning prayer group and other prayer ministries within the church. She was graduated from the University of Tennessee and a past member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She worked at Lakeshore Mental Health Institute in occupational therapy for 17 years. Marion wanted to thank her many good friends for all their sustaining prayers during her illness and, particularly, Dr. Mike Passarello. He had made his home in the Richlands area all of his life and was a service technician for Verizon for the past 26 years. Mary Ellen Redd LEBANON – Mary Ellen Redd, age 64, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, in Maple Grove Health Care Center. Born Jan. 27, 1940, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Palmer William Hedge and the late Mable Alice Hicks Hedge, she had lived in New York City, returning to Lebanon 20 years ago. She was formerly a bookkeeper for the Izod Corporation. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, William Clinton Hedge, Bernard Hedge and Melvin Hedge; and one sister, Virginia Parrott. Survivors include one sister, Diane Hedge, Newark, N.J; a nephew, William Kevin Hedge, Newark; a devoted cousin, Elve McCormick, Lebanon; a devoted sister-in- spirit, Corrine Williams, Lebanon; also she is survived by a host of cousins and friends. The funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, in the Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Dr. James Belcher and the Rev. Emmanuel Mabry officiating.
