Winkles, 81, Norton Katherine Bachman FALLS CHURCH, Va. – Katherine Davis Bachman, M.D., age 94, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, in Falls Church. She was a native of Bristol Tennessee and a daughter of the late Nathan D. and Katherine S. Bachman of Bristol and Cincinnati. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Landon D. Bachman, Nathan D. Bachman III and John S. Bachman. Her family moved to Cincinnati in 1918. Dr. Bachman graduated from Stetson College, joined the Navy as a pharmacist’s mate, and was discharged in 1945. She graduated from the medical school at Tulane University in 1951. Dr. Bachman moved to Falls Church in 1960 and practiced as a pediatric allergist. She was also very active in many environmental causes. She is survived by seven nieces and nephews as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service and celebration of her remarkable life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at the Falls Church Presbyterian Church. Anna Belle was a member of Washington Chapel United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women and had served in various offices. Born on March 21, 1918, in Washington County, Lenny was a daughter of the late Jacob Blevins and Reginer Surber Blevins. She was the last surviving member of her siblings, having been preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters, a grandson and a son-in-law. She was of the Methodist faith. Martin LYNCHBURG, Va. – Clyde Eldridge "Jimmy" Martin, 77, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alease Rice Martin. Born March 28, 1927, in Danville, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Martin and the late Virginia Reeves Martin. He was educated in the Danville Public Schools and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. Traveling throughout the state of Virginia, he worked in sales and marketing for the Flowers Baking Co. and retired in 1992 after 44 years with the company. He was past president of the Lynchburg Sertoma Club and a member of Beulah Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Dalton Martin, and by his sister, Shirley Martin Essa. Stables SALTVILLE – Raymond Virgil Stables, age 70, passed away Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, in Valley Health Care. He was born in Narrows, Va., and was the son of the late William Stables and Georgia Hurt Stables. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Billy, Ronnie and James Stables and infant sister Remona Jean Stables. He worked at Bata Shoe Company and was a retired employee of Black and Decker in Maryland. Wanda Lee Street HONAKER – Mrs. Wanda Lee Street, age 59, of Edgewood Drive, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, in a Lebanon hospital. Born Dec. 2, 1944, in Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Millard and Molly Keifer Turner. She had spent most of her life in the Honaker area and attended the Ourreach Temple. She had been employed at several of the area sewing factories. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Keifer and Robert Keifer, and one sister, Opal Yellow. Survivors include her husband, Memphis Street of the home; two daughters, Regina Caudill of Honaker and Glenda Cunningham and her husband, Eddie, of Bristol Virginia; one son, Jerry Ray Street and his wife, Sherry, of Damascus; one sister, Shirley Hughes of Colorado; four brothers, Eugene Hughes of Whitewood, Va., Randall Keifer of Hampton, Va., Howard Hughes of Newport News, Va., and Ronnie Hicks of Bristol Tennessee; five grandchildren, April Street, Amy Caudill, Aaron Caudill, Joshua Street and Molly Cunningham; three stepgrandchildren; one special niece, Brenda Harrison; and several additional nieces and nephews also survive. Winkles NORTON – Trula A. Winkles, 81, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, in Norton Community Hospital. She was born in the Josephine community of Norton to the Late George W. and Bessie (Johnson) Spears. In addition to her parents, a brother, Winfred Spears, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Willie Winkles; a son and daughter- in-law, Mark G. and Kelly Winkles, Kingsport; two grandsons, Erik Winkles Boggs, Milligan, Tenn., and Jonathan Winkles, Kingsport; a granddaughter, Erin Winkles, Kingsport; a sister, Ruby Adams, Roanoke; and a niece, Darlene Thompson, Roanoke.
