Pocahontas Trigg Hagy, 101, Abingdon Frances Dorton Jackson, 91, Lebanon Goldie Sylvia Kirk, 66, Marion Charles White, 60, Richlands Linda Brewer BLUFF CITY – Mrs. Linda Kay Smith Brewer, age 62, of 5008 Bluff City Highway, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. Mrs. Brewer was a native of Bluff City and a daughter of the late James R. and Louise Miller Smith. She was a member of Bluff City First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Patricia Ann Smith. Survivors include her husband, Carl Brewer of the home; one son, Steve Brewer, Knoxville; one daughter, Sharon Joyner, Shawsville, Va.; seven grandchildren, Dustin Joyner, Justin Joyner, Christopher Joyner, Katie Joyner, Matthew Brewer, Nicholas Brewer and Kevin Brewer; and one brother, Charles Smith, Louisville, Ky. The funeral service for Linda Kay Smith Brewer will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, in the Tetrick Funeral Home-Bluff City Chapel, with Mr. Jason Mead, minister, officiating. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, in the National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Estes James Crabtree ABINGDON – Mr. Estes James Crabtree, age 86, went to be the Lord on Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Wellmont Hospice, Bristol Tennessee. He was born in Dickenson County, Va., and had lived in Abingdon since 1990. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Pearlie Crabtree; his wife of 60 years, Nola Crabtree; two children, Penny and David Crabtree; four sisters, Ora, Hallie, Tiny and Nigatha; and four brothers, Bennie, Otis, Eldon and Tennie B. He is survived by five children, Helen Stinson and husband Bill, Bristol Tennessee, Charles Crabtree and wife Julie, Louisa, Ky., Larry Crabtree and wife Barbara, Coeburn, Dean Crabtree and wife Lana, Castlewood, Jack Crabtree, Bristol Tennessee; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; a brother, Johnny Crabtree, Buckro Beach, Va.; and sisters, Athanee Fleming, Clintwood and Marie Johnson, Norfolk, Va. Lizzie Gillespie NICKELSVILLE, Va. – Lizzie Dell Hartsock Gillespie, age 88, passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at her residence. She was born in Scott County, Va., on April 26, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Charles Kemper and Mary Compton Hartsock. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Gillespie was a member of Culbertson Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buren Gillespie; daughter, Patricia Gillespie; son, Hoyt Allen Gillespie; grandson, Ricky Allen Gillespie; son-in-law, Raymond McDavid; sisters, Mattie Emily Hartsock, Jenniwood Reasor and Minnie Ruth Dean; and brother, Troy Hartsock. Hagy ABINGDON – Pocahontas Trigg Hagy, age 101, a resident of 454 Green Spring Road, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004. She was born in Abingdon and was the widow of William Y. Hagy Sr. She was a member of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, Archie B. Hagy and Eugene A. Hagy. Survivors include two daughters, Doris L. Lester of Abingdon and Nancy H. Groseclose of Abingdon; and three sons, William Yost Hagy of Knoxville, Douglas W. Hagy and wife Geralene of Chesterfield, Va., and Lewis Hagy of the home. Born Jan. 1, 1913, a daughter of the late Joseph Dorton and the late Etta Statzer Dorton, she was the wife of the late Taulbee Jackson. Mrs. Jackson retired from the Russell County Schools in 1976, after many years of teaching elementary school. She was a member of the Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church and attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters. Survivors include a son, James T. Jackson Jr., Lebanon; a daughter and son-in- law, Ann and Harry Monk, Hampton, Va.; a grandson and his wife, Toby and Mary Heather Monk, Hampton; a granddaughter and her husband, Cindy and Scott Long, Richmond; four great-grandchildren, Justin and Blake Long, Nicole and Christopher Monk; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Charles White RICHLANDS – Mr. Charles "Hobert" White, age 60, passed away Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, in a Richlands hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Buchanan County and was the son of the late O.G. and Pinkie Goodman White, both Buchanan County natives. He had made his home in the Richlands, Whitewood and Jewell Valley area most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, one brother, James Shelby White, and one stepsister, Dallas Rae Marcum, preceded him in death. Survivors are one son, Christopher Tracy White and wife Laura of Tazewell; three sisters, Connie Sue Stoner and husband Robert of Chillicothe, Mo., Lillian Rebecca Whitt of the home and Jhonnie Belinda Blankenship and husband Kevin of Richlands; two special nephews, Nathaniel Grant White and Robert Dewyane Louthan; and his ex-wife, Alma Jean Kinder Smith of Thompson Valley, Va.
