Bott, age 87, a resident of Black Hollow Road, went to be with Jesus Oct. 17, 2004, at the home of daughter Charlotte, with her loving family in attendance. She was the daughter of the late Cordelia Anderson Nunley and the late George Anderson. She was born in Washington County, Va., where she lived her whole life. She was a devoted wife and mother and a loving grandmother. She was a good neighbor. She was a devoted Christian and loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bott, one son, Frankie Bott, two brothers, Nathanial Anderson and George W. Anderson. Survivors include two daughters, Katie Hamilton and Charlotte Burnette and husband Dennis, all of Abingdon; one brother, Henry Anderson and wife Louise of Abingdon; special friends, Kenneth and Eileen Long and Billy and Tammy Hamilton; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services for Ruby M. Bott will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, in the Campbell Funeral Home Chapel, Abingdon, with the Rev. Kenneth Widner and the Rev. Burke, 82, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon. He was born in Russell County, Va., son of the late Walter T. and Gussie Salyer Burke. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Fidelity Lodge 173 A.F. & A.M. of Nickelsville, Va. He was a member of Grassy Creek Community Church and attended Sabra Chapel Church. He was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Joshua Burke. Howard Bussey KINGSPORT – Howard Fletcher Bussey, 87, went to be with the Lord late Saturday evening, Oct. 16, 2004, at Church Hill Health Care Center, Church Hill. Born in Russell County, Va.. he had lived in Sullivan County for over 60 years. He was a member of the Fordtown Baptist Church. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from Grief Brothers Container after over 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Coper Bussey; a son, Ronnie Bussey; his parents, Lil Bussey and Mary Ellen Cox Bussey; three brothers, Charles, Gaines and Henry Bussey; and a sister, Eula Lee Fleenor. Cleo Morris Dalton PINEY FLATS – Cleo Morris Dalton, age 87, of 309 Webb Road, died Friday, Oct. 15, at Johnson City Medical Center. A daughter of the late William Henry and Fina Carr Morris, Mrs. Dalton was a native of Carter County and had lived in Piney Flats for 68 years. She was an active member of United Methodist Women and Piney Flats United Methodist Church. Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William T. Dalton; four brothers, Carl, Floyd, Earl and Bruce Morris; and four sisters, Bertha Price, Clara Wilson, Grace Tribble and Monta Perry. Elwell L. Kimmell BRISTOL, Tenn. – Elwell Lawrence (Moose) Kimmell, 79, formerly of Cleveland, Va., passed away on Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 7, 1925, in Logan, W.Va., to the late Ethel Mae and Elwell Kimmell. He served his country as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army and retired from Appalachian Power Company on Feb. 28, 1986, after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Painter Creek Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, also preceding him in death were his wife, Sylvia Kimmell, son, Richard Kimmell, sisters, Bobbie Lee and Dorothy, and brothers, Rayburn and Joe. He is survived by his wife, Alice Louise Kimmell; daughters, Alice Finucane of Las Vegas and Ona Faye Salyer of Bristol Tennessee; son, Charles Martin of Franklin, N.C.; stepdaughters, Phyllis McFarland and husband James of Bristol Tennessee and Wanda Sells and husband Sammy of Abingdon; and stepsons, Ronnie Holbrook and wife Sheryl of Bluefield, Va., and Wayne Holbrook of Badin Lake, N.C.; two sisters, Edna Mae Woods and Genoa Kovitch. He lived most of his life in Big Stone Gap, where he formerly worked for Westmoreland Coal Company. He was a self-employed contractor. His father, Roy Rutherford, and brother, Michael Rutherford, preceded him in death. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith, which he attended Beech Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Big Stone Gap. Clara Cox Vencill BELFAST, Va. – Clara Cox Vencill went to be with our Lord and all her loved ones gone before her on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004. Her passing was at home after a long courageous battle with cancer. Clara was born Oct. 17, 1917, the oldest child of the late George Lawary and Gussie Jones Cox. She was a lifelong resident of Russell County, a member of Belfast United Methodist Church and Belfast Senior Citizens. She retired from the Russell County School System after 35 years of service at Belfast School. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Vencill; daughter, Thelma Jean Vencill; grandson, Tom Hale; one sister, Margie Cox; and one brother, James T. Cox. Surviving are two sons, James (E.J.)
