Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph E. and Doris B. Bandy. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Garland, Texas. She is survived by two sisters, Susan Bandy Lohstreter and husband, Jack, Garland, and Doris Bandy Bowman and husband, Bob, Stonega; one brother, Ralph E. Bandy Jr. and wife, Debbie, Kingsport; seven nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and great- nephews. Louise will always be remembered for her sweet smile and kind heart. The heavens rejoiced when she was called back home. She was an angel on earth and now she walks with the angels in heaven. Mr. Bussey was born and raised in Russell County, Va., but had lived most of his life of Washington County, Va., a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, Benhams, Va., and retired from Mid-Mountain Foods, with 16 years of service. He enjoyed the Atlanta Braves, hunting, NASCAR and collecting pocket knives. He is survived by his wife, Dottie Bussey, Bristol Virginia; his son, Leon Bussey, Abingdon, and fiancée, Cindy Powers; his mother, Pauline Boardwine, Abingdon; his two stepsons, Keith Smith and Charles Smith, both of Calhoun, Ga.; his brother, Jimmy Bussey, Front Royal, Va.; his grandchildren, Trey Bussey, Joshua Smith, Kacee Smith, Christopher Smith and Sierra Smith; and a niece, Mandi Ensor and family, Manassas, Va. Eula Curd GLADE SPRING – Eula Curd, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., and was the daughter of the late James Henry Rosenbaum and Lila Jane Phillips Rosenbaum. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Curd, two sons, Billy Curd and Leonard Rosenbaum, daughter, Mae Moorefield, and a twin sister, Mattie Stacy. Mrs. Curd attended the Church of God of Prophecy. She is survived by five daughters, Marie Wilmoth of Dobson, N.C., Mary Owens of High Point, N.C., Edna Cornett of Damascus, Sandra Thomas of High Point and Linda Barlow of Glade Spring; 29 grandchildren; 64 great- grandchildren; 46 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Farris Funeral Service is serving the family of Mr. DeBose. Louise Dodson Doan BLOUNTVILLE – Louise Dodson Doan died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at Wellmont Hospice House. She was a native of Hardin, Mo., but was a resident of Sullivan County, Tenn., most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Andrew and Mary Marie Kidd Dodson. Mrs. Doan was a bookkeeper in the office of Sullivan County Circuit Court in Blountville for 17 years when she retired. She was a member of Adams Chapel United Methodist Church in Blountville, where she served as a nursery and kindergarten teacher for many years, the membership secretary and treasurer for a number of years and served on many committees. She was a charter member of the Women’s Society of Christian Services, now known as United Methodist Women. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Doan, 1993, and her only sibling, a brother, Herbert A. Dodson Jr., 1997. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, David B. Doan II and wife, Jane, and Roy E. Doan and wife, Linda, all of Blountville, and Herbert A. He was the son of the late Thomas L. and Nannie F. Lovelace, and was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel H. Lovelace. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, and was the recipient of several medals of valor, including the Purple Heart. James Cloyd Whitten BRISTOL, Va. – James Cloyd Whitten, 90, of The Grand Court, Liberty Place, died at The Grand Court Oct. 20, 2004. He was born at his family home, which still stands, on Kings Mill Pike, Bristol Virginia, on Aug. 16, 1914. He was the last surviving child of Robin Whitten and Elizabeth Law Craig Whitten. He was a graduate of Bristol Virginia High School. He began a career in the 1930s in the electrical field, assisting in the electrical installation for many projects in the Bristol area, including St. Anne Catholic Church, South Holston Dam and Holston Ordinance Works, before entering the U.S. Navy in World War II. He served in the South Pacific, constructing the electrical installation in new combat ships and rebuilding war damaged submarines. After returning to Bristol in 1945, Mr. Whitten, together with his brother Robin, opened Whitten Electric Supply Company, which they operated until their retirement in 1981. He met his wife, Elizabeth Ann Flannagan Whitten of Lebanon, while she was a student at Virginia Intermont College. Mr. Whitten was active in many local civic and professional organizations, including serving as deacon and elder at Central Presbyterian Church, Board of Directors of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce and was an honorary member of the Hill and Dale Garden Club. Survivors include his daughter and her husband, Ann Wills Whitten Gillenwater and John Kenan Gillenwater; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Kenan Gillenwater Stead and her husband Christopher M. Stead, and James Jason (J.J.) Gillenwater, all of Bristol Tennessee. Nieces and nephews include Mike Wood of Pensacola, Fla., Robert C. Lilly May Yohe Lilly May Yohe, 88, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at Bristol Nursing Home. She was born in Marion, a daughter of the late Harry and Justin Rose Russell Stephenson. She had lived in Bristol for the last 10 years and was of the Baptist faith. She was the widow of John Joseph Yohe. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Kalenich of Bristol; sons, Joseph John Yohe of Fort Walton, Fla., and Michael Lee Yohe of Lancaster, Calif.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o’clock Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The memorial service celebrating the life of Lilly May Yohe will follow at 3 o’clock in the Paul Cook Memorial Chapel of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home, with Rev. Charlie Murphy officiating.
