Glover Charley James Glover, age 75, surrounded by loved ones, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, after a lengthy illness. He was born March 24, 1929, in Bristol Tennessee, to the late John and Lissie Hampton Glover, and had lived all of his life in the Bristol area. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Glover was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will greatly be missed. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Martha Miller. Also surviving: daughter, Mrs. Jeffery (Amy) Barnes of Bluff City; sons, Tony Glover and Keith Glover, both of Piney Flats, Mark Glover of Bluff City, Jeff Glover of Bristol Tennessee and Ray Glover of Kingsport; 16 grandchildren; three sisters, Nora Graybeal of Bluff City and Charmie Glover and Sue Purvis, both of Mooresville, N.C.; brother, Stoney Glover of Bluff City; and several nieces and nephews. Greenwald died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004. She was born April 30, 1909. Her ashes were interred Oct. 18, 2004, with her husband, retired Lieutenant Colonel A.T. Geenwald in Arlington National Cemetery. Lillian is survived by her daughters, Dorothy L. Domuray of Chicago and Elizabeth J. Swavely of Bristol Tennessee. After a lifetime of serving others, she bought a small farm in Pennsylvania and raised sheep. She and Tom moved to Virginia in 1973, where she purchased a small, run-down acreage and started a tree farm. She received recognition from the State of Virginia for her forestry work and was an active member of the Walnut Council. She will be sorely missed. Edgar T. Hill HAYSI – Edgar T. Hill, age 70, of Route 1, passed away Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at his home. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of wonderful parents, the late John and Nannie Lee Hill. He was last employed as a grocery-store merchant and was employed with Advance Transformer Co. of Chicago for a number of years. He was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Armis, his former wife, Verneal Silcox Hill, their beloved son, Eddie Jr. Hill, brother-in-law, Don Yaney, and sister-in-law, Mary Hill. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Sue Hill of Sanford, Fla.; two grandchildren, Amanda Wills of Salem, Va., and Jamie Dawn Hill of Haysi; one great-granddaughter; Kayleigh Wills of Salem; three sisters, Imogene Yaney of Monticello, Ind., Trula (Ron) Brady of Lowell, Ind., and Janie (Charles) Newell of Addison, Ill.; four brothers, Oliver (June) Hill and David (Joan) Hill, all of Haysi, Calvin Hill of Elmhurst, Ill., and Robert (Mary Ann) Hill of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
