Beverly BLOUNTVILLE – Jack M. Beverly, age 65, went home to be with the Lord at 2:20 a.m. Thursday at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Jack was born in Clintwood on March 5, 1939, a son of the late William and Grace McFall Beverly. He had resided in this area since 1966. He graduated from Tennessee Tech, with a B.S. degree in math, and graduated from Virginia Tech, with a B.S. and master’s degree in statistics. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jack retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1997, after 31 years of service. He was a fellow of the American Society for Quality, a statistician, teacher, mentor and friend. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, one who enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active member of Cassidy United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Phipps Beverly of the home; daughter and her husband, Krista Diane and Joseph Froedge, Louisville, Ky.; son and his wife, Michael Bennett and Donna Beverly, Elizabethton, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brandon Medina, Samantha Medina, Matthew Beverly, Cassandra Froedge and Grace Elizabeth Froedge; brothers and their wives, Frank E. and Pauline Beverly, Moneta, Va., and William B. and Susan Beverly, Due West, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Suthers Lodge 259 AF&AM in Norton and a former member of the Norton Fire Department. His wife, Thelma Hankla, a brother, William Hankla, and a sister, Eleanor Pender, preceded him in death. Born on March 21, 1925, in Watauga County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Jessee Yarber and May Waters Yarber. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Smith. Mrs. Heath was a member of the Mount Carmel Christian Church in Meadowview and loved growing her many varieties of flowers, as well as taking care of her flower gardens at her home. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed feeding them also. She is survived by her husband, James D. Heath; two daughters, Joyce H. Survivors include two daughters, Tina Cain and husband James and Debbie Cooper and husband Carlos; three sons, Mike Williams and wife Arvella, Ricky Williams and Lynn Williams; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Cross and husband Albert and Susie Burchett; three brothers, Luther Burchett, William Burchett and wife Terry and Jimmy Burchett; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, in the Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel, with Rev. Cass Farrior officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery.
