Anna was born on Dec. 8, 1920, in Bloomfield, N.J. She moved to Bristol in 1946. Mrs. Maryanski was a member of Saint Anne’s Catholic Church and was also a member of the Church Friendship Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Maryanski, and daughter, Barbara Maryanski. Survivors include: three daughters, Joanne Campbell of Bristol Virginia, Teresa Hale and husband Doug of Bristol Virginia, and Mary Hayden of Ownesboro, Ky.; one son, Tom Maryanski and wife Barbara of Bluff City; one sister, Jessie Karpinski of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many, many friends. Solemn Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at 12 p.m. in the St. Anne’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Timothy Keeney officiating. The burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. Sue Ryan Watson EMORY, Va. – Sue Ryan Watson, age 75, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at her residence. She was born in 1929 the third child of Vernie D. and Nannie Callahan Ryan. She was preceded in death by a son-in- law, Donnie Pless. She grew up in Meadowview, and at the age of seven, and in the depth of the Depression, her father was killed in a car wreck and she, along with her brothers and sister, was raised by her mother, who worked in the home as a seamstress, and her Grandpaw Callahan, who took every odd job he could find. She attended Meadowview School and had her first real job working in Curt Buckles store in Meadowview. She graduated as the salutatorian of her Meadowview High School Class of 1946. She attended Emory & Henry College for two years, prior to accepting employment with the Washington County Public School System. At the age of 18, in a one-room school outside Abingdon called Stony Point, she began a teaching career that would span over 40 years. During her career, which included service at Damascus Elementary, Central School, William King Elementary and E.B. Stanley Elementary School, she taught hundreds of first graders to read. She was one of Washington County’s last, if not the last, surviving one-room school teacher. She was selected by the Abingdon Jaycees as the Outstanding Young Educator of Washington County in 1965 and was a Washington County Elementary School Teacher of the Year. She served as a Girl Scout leader for Troop 303 in Emory. She was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher and also a member of Circle 2 at Greenfield Baptist Church, where she was a member. She had served as a member of the Washington County Library Board and was a member of the Washington County Democratic Women. She had served as secretary/treasurer of the Patrick Henry Rebel Band Boosters. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Reelia Watson of Emory; four children, Beth Pless of Emory, Lyndalu Staton of Bristol Virginia, Reelia Ryan Watson of Emory and Amy Sue Whistler of Bristol Virginia; one sister, Jo Ann DeFriece of Emory; five granddaughters, Heather Hill of Bristol Tennessee, Amy Pless of Emory, Suzanne Staton of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Brittney Barrett of Bristol Virginia, and Hannah Barrett of Bristol Virginia; three grandsons, Travis Staton of Bristol Tennessee, Andy Pless of Emory and Seth Barrett of Bristol Virginia; two son-in-laws, Dennis Staton and Randy Whistler; and other grandchildren, Kevin Hill and Ryiah Staton. Funeral services for Sue Ryan Watson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, in the Greenfield Baptist Church, with Rev. Tom Capron officiating. Burial will follow in the Holston Conference, Emory & Henry Cemetery, Emory. Active pallbearers will be grandson, Dennis Godfrey, former students, Randall Eads and J.D.
