Ralph Bernard Bise BRISTOL, Tenn. – Ralph Bernard Bise, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late John W. and Eva Beavers Bise, and had spent most of his life in the Bristol area. Mr. Bise worked in the ministry and had spent 10 years with the Jail and Prison Ministry. He was a member of the Holy Grounds Church. Mr. Bise was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II, and was a loving father and grandfather. Survivors include sons, John W. Bise and Thomas W. Bise; daughters-in-law, Judy and Janice Bise; granddaughters, Janie Bise Conner, Jennifer Bise Chatman and Melanie Bise Hicks; brother, Earl Bise; one niece; one nephew; two great- grandsons and special friend, Maude Carrier. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at 8:30 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Fred Potter officiating. Boughers died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. Minnie was a member of Holston Valley Christian Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She was involved in the ladies aid and volunteered many hours to the children’s programs at the church. Minnie was also recognized as one of the area’s strongest women bowlers and competed in both state and national tournaments. She had one son, the late Timothy Lloyd Boughers of Greeneville. Minnie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bobby L. Boughers. She is also survived by Peggy Boughers-Miner and husband Bob Miner of Raleigh, N.C., and Karen Boughers-McCastlen and husband Kurt McCastlen of Greeneville; brothers, Nat Jones of Abingdon and Marvin Jones of Danville, Va. Her pride and joy was her seven-year-old granddaughter, Hanna Grace Boughers. Additionally, she is survived by her kids, Nancy Flick, Shirley Rice, Wes, Susan and Gracie Buckles, Lee Flick, Michael Kim and Logan Booher, Misty Marie Kirkpatrick and son Lucas, and many special friends and neighbors. Grizzle, 66, of the Weavers Creek community, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. Born March 3, 1938, in Russell County, a son of the late Steve Grizzle and the late Lenora Owens Grizzle, he was the husband of the late Linda Gay Grizzle. He was a carpenter. Leoka Hughes BRISTOL, Va. – Leoka Virginia Mays Hughes, age 83, of Moore Street, Apt. 204, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Boone, N.C., to the late Dillard and Bessie Reece Mays, but she lived her life in the Bristol area since she was three years old. She was a homemaker and a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. She was a member of the Washington County Senior Citizens Club and was an avid quilter for many years. She was the widow of Sherman Hughes, and was preceded in death by son, Larry Hughes. She is survived by daughters, Maxie Fleenor and husband Don, Joyce "Joy" Payne and husband John, and Ackie Slagle and husband Bud; sons, Oscar Hughes and wife Fran and Scotty Hughes and wife Ilene; sisters, Catherine Dunn and Lucille Norris; special friend and caregiver, Linda Trivett; 17 grandchildren; 41 great- grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
