Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Andrea C. Deel BRISTOL, Va. – Andrea Christine (Christy) Deel, 85 Pace Drive, went home to her Lord Jesus on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004. She was born June 19, 1966, to Willie Kermit and Betty J. Deel, and lived the early years of her life in Buchanan County. She attended Palmer Institute and graduated from Abingdon High School and Virginia Highlands Community College, with a degree in secretarial science. She also held a degree in veterinary assistant technology. Christy was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church and had also been a member of Kingsway Baptist Church in Bristol. She was a devout Christian, pure of heart, whose life was a testimony to her faith. She had helped to raise over 10 foster children. Christy was a member of the Appalachian Girl Scout Council, where she served as a troop leader and as a unit leader at the Bristol, Virginia Day Camp. She worked with the March of Dimes and made blankets and collected baby items for the "Angel Network." She loved crafts and collected dolls and Beanie Babies. Born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone disease), Christy’s life expectancy was only three years but she beat those odds every day, making a life of service to others. Her cheerfulness and determination were a blessing to family and friends alike. She helped to design handicapped accessibility plans for the Bristol Virginia School System and was the first student to benefit from those changes. She volunteered over 500 hours at Bristol Memorial Hospital in the public relations and billing departments. Other than her parents, she is survived by her sister, Mitzi McClanahan, brother-in-law, Alvery W. Tiller, and their children, Caroline Tabor and her husband James Keith, and children Amanda, Alex and Nicholas of Bristol Virginia, and Travis M. Tiller of Abingdon; and her brother and sister-in-law, Bruce W. and Mary Ann Deel of Bristol Tennessee, and their children, Lea Ann Wilson and husband Jonathon of Amarillo, Texas, and Tiffany Deel of Bristol Tennessee. She also leaves behind special friends, Clarence White, Connie Macklem and Linda Stewart; as well as her beloved dog and constant companion, Belle. She was preceded in death by infant brothers, Brian Keith and Jimmy Ted, as well as maternal grandparents, James Ramey, and Grace Cron; and paternal grandparents, John W and Mary Deel. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 13, 2005, at noon in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main St., with Elders Jackie Church, Annion Cole and Ely Smith. Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Vada Mary Hale MANSFIELD, Ohio – Mrs. Vada Mary (Breedlove) Hale, age 89, formerly of Swords Creek, Va., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at home, after an extended illness. Born July 9, 1915, in Swords Creek, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Rosa Dye Breedlove. She was a member of the Valley View Freewill Baptist Church of Honaker and loved to quilt and garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis Dye in 1945, her second husband, Hobart Hale in 1988, one daughter, Nila Oma Perkins Carroll, three brothers, Raymond, Hubert and Glen Breedlove, two sisters, Zeola Breedlove and Fonnie Dye, and her stepmother, Hazel Breedlove. Survivors include three sons, Russell Lee Dye of Conowingo, Md., Roger Leon Dye of Rising Sun, Md., and Robert Lewis Dye of Mansfield; one stepdaughter, Jeanney Vance of Cedar Bluff; one sister, Marie Meadows of Conowingo; one brother, Harley Breedlove of Conowingo; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren also survive. Massengill CHUCKEY, Tenn. – Willie Clemmer Massengill, of Wellington Place, formerly of Elmwood Farm, Chuckey died Wednesday morning at Wellington Place. She was a retired elementary school teacher who, along with her late husband, John William, established and managed Massive Hills Dairy. For three decades from 1960 until J.W.’s death in 1990, Elmwood Farm was home to Massive Hills Holsteins, one of the most widely recognized and highly regarded dairies in the state. Born June 6, 1922, in Midway, Mrs. Massengill was a daughter of the late Uriah Matthews and Lucy Greer Clemmer. She graduated as valedictorian from McDonald High School in 1939. Mrs. Massengill attended the State Teachers College in Johnson City, where she first received her teachers certificate, then later graduated with a bachelor of science degree in education. She began her teaching career in Greene County at Midway School in 1942. It was here as a young teacher during World War II, that Willie was proud to have, in addition to her teaching duties, served as school principal and head basketball coach. In October 1944, Willie married John W. Massengill, a native of Bluff City, whom she met while attending college. Until 1960, Mrs. Massengill lived in Bluff City. During some of the years spent in Bluff City, she taught at Bluff City Elementary School. While living in Bluff City, Willie also began to help J.W. fulfill his dream of becoming a dairyman. In 1960, Mrs. Massengill returned to her native Greene County, when the dairy they had started in Sullivan County was moved to Elmwood Farm. She began teaching at Chuckey Elementary School, where she taught until her retirement in 1984. On the year of her retirement, she was honored with the Teacher of the Year Award in Greene County. Mrs. Massengill was a member of the Chuckey United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was a member and past president of Alpha Delta Kappa and the Greeneville-Greene County Retired Teachers Association. In 1970, she was appointed by Governor Buford Ellington to serve on the Tennessee State Textbook Commission, and was subsequently reappointed by Governor Winfield Dunn in 1972 for a second term. In 1976, Mrs. Massengill was recognized as one of the "Personalities of the South" for past achievements and outstanding service to community and state. Her survivors include a daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Martha, Phil and Philip (P.B.) Bachman III of Greeneville, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Claudius G. and Katherine Earnest Clemmer of Kingsport and James P. and Jeanette Clemmer of Glenwood, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Ona Clemmer of Mosheim; a brother- in-law, R. Jack Grantham of Kingsport; a number of nieces and nephews; three loyal caregivers, Joyce Corby of Chuckey, Mary Ruth Hankins of Greeneville and Vickie Massey of Baileyton; a lifelong friend, Joreka Rippetoe Loomis of Atlanta; and the wonderful staff and her special friends at Wellington Place. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William (J.W.) Massengill of Chuckey; a brother and sister-in-law, Uriah M. and Virginia Clemmer of Chuckey; a sister, Martha Grantham of Kingsport; and a sister and brother-in-law, Lenore and J.D. She had lived most of her life in Springfield, Va., and, after her husband’s retirement, she returned to Bristol, where she has lived for the past 15 years. She was an avid antique collector and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Musick was preceded in death by her husband, Cebert O. Musick. Charles Sprinkle Sr. Charles Douglas Sprinkle Sr., 60, formerly of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, in Brisbane, Australia. He was born in Smyth County to the late Walter L. Sprinkle Sr. and Okie Barbre Sprinkle. He lived 41 years in Marion and worked at ARA. He moved to Australia and lived there for 19 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church in Marion. Survivors include: wife, Maree Bailey Sprinkle; one son, Charles Douglas Sprinkle Jr. and wife Florence, Atkins, Va.; one daughter, Dana Carol Sprinkle, Marion; two stepchildren, Chris Foster, Australia, and Ken Foster, Australia; two brothers, E.T. Margaret I. Wolfe Margaret Irene Wolfe, age 90, went home to be with her Lord on Nov. 11, 2004, from the NHC Healthcare Center in Bristol Virginia, following a brief illness. She was a native of Hiltons, Va. Miss Wolfe lived all her adult life in Bristol and was a retired pharmaceutical worker with the S. E. Massengill Company and Beecham Pharmaceuticals. She was a member and former Sunday School teacher of Central Baptist Church in Bristol Virginia. Miss Wolfe was preceded in death by her parents, Worley and Desi Cox Wolfe, two brothers, Pete Wolfe and Stuart Wolfe, and two sisters, Ruby Wolfe Hunsucker and Louise Wolfe Hensley. Miss Wolfe is survived by two half-sisters, Pauline Wolfe Dean and Wilma Jean Wolfe, both of Bristol Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
