Born Sept. 7, 1931, in Swords Creek, Va., he was a son of the late Herman C. and Lucy Viola Ellis Bostic. He had spent his early life in Swords Creek and had moved to Lebanon in the late 1970’s. He was a coal operator and former owner of H.C. Bostic Coal Company and Bostic Ford in Lebanon. He was a member of the Swords Creek Community Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife and mother of his children, Margaret Loraine Hoops Bostic, and one brother, Clyde Bostic. Survivors include two daughters, Glenna Faye Stilwell of Lebanon and Kathy E. Johnson of Trinity, N.C.; three brothers, Robert Bostic of Lebanon and Harold Bostic and Wayne Bostic, both of Swords Creek; four grandchildren, Billy H. Blankenship, Jessee L. Stilwell, Lorrie M. Tatum and Amy A. Johnson; one great- grandson, Thomas Isaac Hayes Blankenship, also survive. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Claypool Hill, Va., with Brother Leslie Ritchie and Brother Richard Bostic officiating. Mrs. Robin Michelle Edwards, age 30, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, i a Lebanon hospital. Ermel L. Hunt Sr. VANSANT, Va. – Ermel Lynton Hunt Sr., 91 years of age, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy. Born in Pike County, Ky., March 31, 1913, he was the son of the late Jerry M. Hunt and Carrie Whitt Hunt. He was a retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal Corp., member of the UMWA and charter member of the Justiceville Bible Baptist Church, where he had served as deacon, elder and treasurer. For his and his wife’s many years of service and dedication to the church,the church parsonage was named Hunt’s Haven. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John P. Hunt, Victor Hunt and James Hunt. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ama Lee Elliot Hunt of Vansant; two daughters, Priscilla Gaye Blair and husband Roy of Morehead, Ky., and Rebecca Lynne Caudill and husband Earnie of Vansant; one son, Ermel Lynton Hunt Jr. of Vansant; one brother, Orie Virgil Hunt of Mouthcard, Ky.; six grandchildren, Laura Lee Landrum and husband Jerry of Gainesville, Va., Ermel Lynton Hunt III of Raven, Va., Priscilla Paige Taylor and husband Rob of Morehead, Ky., Amy Elizabeth Haynes of Gainesville and Nathan Caudill and Courtni Caudill, both of Richlands; three great-grandsons, Austin Landrum, Shane Taylor and J. Campbell Ireson, age 98, a resident of Brook Haven Manor, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Wellmont Hospice House. Mrs. Ireson was born Oct. 14, 1906, in Alvaredo, Va., a daughter of the lateRobert G. and Nannie Rush Campbell, and has made her home in Bristol most of her life. Mrs. Ireson was a retired secretary for Roses Variety Store in Kingsport and a member of the Twin-City Rebecca Lodge. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Johnnie Ireson; and several nieces and nephews. Powell Georgiana Cox Powell, 86, Pine Ridge Care Center, formerly of 972 Weaver Branch Road, Bluff City, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2004, following an extended illness. A native of Scranton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Paul G. and Lenna Toby Hovey. Mrs. Powell was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Bluff City for over 50 years. She was a piano teacher and a missionary in earlier years for six churches. She was a dedicated volunteer to many charitable organizations. Mrs. Powell was honored for lifetime of achievement with The Tennessee Health Care Association. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy R. Cox in 1964, and her second husband, Horace Powell in 1975, and three brothers, Harold Hovey, Carl Hovey and Newton Hovey. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Sonny and Carlene Cox, Bluff City; one grandchild, Paul Rodney Cox, Bluff City; two nieces, Betsy Bartholomer, Md. and Judy Hovey, Cali.; a nephew, Larry Hovey, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Eleanor Mick, N.M.; and two special friends, Doris Shaw and Lori Harvey. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County. She was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Lillie Lodice Phillips Bland. She attended Denton’s Valley Baptist Church. Survivors include Her husband, Riley C. William-Fred Street William-Fred Street, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, of complications from a stroke. A resident of Norfolk, Va., he was raised in South Norfolk and Hickory. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in southwest Virginia, where he and friends helped build Hungry Mother State Park. He joined the U.S. Navy and served as a torpedo man. A World War II veteran, he was aboard the USS Tarbell in the Atlantic when the war began and aboard the USS Trippe in the Pacific when it ended. He retired with more than 20 years service in 1961. He later worked at General lectric, retiring in 1977. He enjoyed many hobbies and was active until his stroke. He particularly enjoyed reunions with shipmates and was looking forward to the USS K D Baiiy reunion in 2005. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Blanche Worley; one son, Donald Rhea Street of Powder Springs, Ga.; and his sisters, Ula Lorio and Millie Parenti. He is survived by his children and grandchildren, Fred E. Street of Chesapeake, William D. Street, his sons, Heath and Brannon of Columbus, Ga., Valarie Snyder and Nora Street, both of Norfolk, Ruth Slavens, her daughter, Stella and husband Alex of Sigonelia, Sicily; daughter-in-law, Beverly Street of Powder Springs; brother and sisters, Lenora Haste of Windsor, N.C.; Albert Street and Margaret Roughton, both of Chesapeake, and Edwin Street of Richmond, Va.; ousin, Jean Rich of Norfolk; and many nieces and nephews. Born Aug. 30, 1934, in Russell County, a son of the late J.A. Warner and Nannie Bell Alexander Warner. He was a farmer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Warner and Cecil Warner; and two nephews, Clifford (Tip) Warner and Jeffrey Warner. Survivors include three sisters, Nancy Harrison and husband Eugene, Lebanon, Claudie Harris and husband Albert, Tampa, Fla., and Ann Weddle, Bristol Virginia; one brother, Bill Warner and wife Cindy, Chesapeake, Va.; loving friend, Jean Boardwine; several nieces and nephews; and a special cae giver, Becky Brown. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel, with the Rev. Darrell Fletcher officiating.
