Burroughs, age 82, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at his residence. He was a native of Grant County, Ky., and had lived in Bristol for 60 years. He was the son of the late John William and Mamie Huff Cook Burroughs. He was a retired funeral director and had been the manager of East Hill Cemetery for 40 years and the owner of B.C. Monument Company. He was a longstanding member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Zelma Barr Burroughs; one daughter, Kay B. Stueve and husband, James, of Houston; one son, Michael Burroughs and wife, Karen, of Santa Cruz, Calif.; one sister, Jean Tumbrink of Carrollton, Ky.; two brothers, Marvin Burroughs of Pinehurst, N.C., and Wendell Burroughs of St. Paul, Va.; three grandchildren, Rebecca and Kathleen Stueve and Sophia Burroughs; and several nieces and nephews. He was a son of the late Ira and Dellia Huff Fulks, and was also preceded in death by three sisters, Nellie Corbin, Julie Wilson and Pearl Flanary; and six brothers, Lloyd Fulks, Isaac "Ike" Fulks, Rufus Fulks, Claude Fulks, Charles Fulks and Roscoe Fulks. Chloe Alene Ireson ROSEDALE, Va. – Mrs. Chloe Alene Ireson, age 64, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, in a Lebanon hospital. Born March 21, 1940, in Russell County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Alta Ward Pruner. She had spent most of her life in the area and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ at Blackford, Va. She was a retired jailor with Russell County Sheriff’s Office, having worked there from 1989-1999. She was active in the New Garden Rescue Squad until 1990. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Ward. Survivors include her husband, Robert Ireson; one son, Gerald Vance and his wife, Deborah, of Swords Creek, Va.; one daughter, Sandra McMillan and her husband, Steve, of Dandridge, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Betty) Arwood of Honaker and Mrs. Hurley Wayne (Darlene) Dye of Swords Creek; two brothers, Donald Ward of Marshall, Va., and Billy Gene Pruner of Lebanon; two grandsons, Gerald Vance Jr. and Erik Vance, both of Swords Creek; one great-granddaughter, Jada Nicole Vance; two stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Campbell Ireson, age 98, a resident of Brook Haven Manor, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Wellmont Hospice House. Billy Keith Martin PRINCETON, W.Va. – Billy Keith Martin passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at the Princeton Community Hospital. He was born in Princeton and would have celebrated his 60th birthday on Sunday, Nov. 28. He was the son of the late Ray B. Martin and Mabel B. Martin. He died peacefully after an extended and courageous battle with lung cancer. Billy graduated from Princeton Senior High School in 1962 and attended Concord College in Athens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and had recently retired from Celanese in Narrows, Va., after 39 years of dedicated service. A beloved husband, father and brother, Billy touched the lives of many close friends and acquaintances. He was an active member of the Princeton Church of God and enjoyed spending time at the Princeton Fitness Center. Billy’s greatest joy in life was bringing happiness to others around him. Those left with loving memories are wife, Ruth of Princeton; son and daughter- in-law, Kevin and Melanie Martin of Springfield, Va.; sister, Brenda Martin Sword and husband Roger of Lebanon; and sister, Sandy Martin Lambert and husband Allen of Roanoke. She was a native of Spruce Pine, N.C., and daughter of the late Robert Glenn and Nell Lowery Simmons. She had graduated from Harris High School in Spruce Pine in 1953. Mrs. Young had graduated from the first class at the Johnson City Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse. She began her career with Dr. John Platt and retired from the Johnson City Medical Center after 30 years of service. She was actively involved in the Emmaus community. Mrs. Young was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene A. Young, and a son, Alan A. Young.
