Baldwin, age 70, passed away on Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol Tennessee. He was a native of Grayson County, Va., a longtime resident of Mannassas, Va., and had lived in Washington County, Va., for the past 10 years. He was a son of the late Vernie A. and Vesta Shumate Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a carpenter. He is survived by one daughter, Theresa R. Baldwin, of Elkwood, Va.; six sons, Roger W. Baldwin, of Dale City, Va., Richard L. Baldwin, of Bealton, Va., Ronald E. Baldwin, of Shady Side, Md., Donald E. Baldwin, of Haymarket, Va., Russell A. Blevins, age 85, of 217 Shankel Mill Road, quietly entered the presence of his Lord Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at the Cambridge House. Maxwell W. Fullen BRISTOL, Va. – Maxwell Willoughby "Max" Fullen, age 74, passed away Sunday, Dec.12, 2004, following a brief illness. Mr. Fullen was born in Mendota, Va., on Nov. 10, 1930, to the late William Abram Fullen and Bessie Willoughby Fullen. He was a resident of Bristol Virginia and was retired from the Virginia Department of Taxation. Max was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. His youth was filled with fishing and hunting in Washington and Russell County, Va. As an adult, his varmint hunting adventures in the mountains of southwestern Virginia were featured in several national shooting magazines. Max was a dignified and gentle man, a friend to children and cats and was a prolific storyteller and magician. He especially enjoyed all forms of mechanical clock repair and had a penchant for Black Forrest cuckoo clocks. After retirement from the State of Virginia, he founded a specialty cuckoo clock sales and repair business, The Cuckoo Nest, which he managed until his death. His beloved wife, Dot Allen Cole Fullen, and two brothers, Roy S. Fullen and Coy B. Fullen, preceded him in death. His sister, Virginia Fullen Kelley; his sister-in-law, Marjorie Roller Fullen; his devoted friend, Benita Bowman; and several nieces and nephews survive Mr. Fullen. Although Max had no children, he considered all his nieces and nephews and all the children, who listened to his stories, to be "his children". Mr. Fullen was a member of the Mendota Masonic Lodge and was a York Rite Mason and a Shriner. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Oakley- Blevins Funeral Home. He was of the Pentecostal faith, owner of Hale’s Sharpening Service, employed by Southwest Sanitation, actively involved with the Gift of Love Foundation, an avid outdoorsman, gifted artist, loving son, husband, father and brother. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Walton and Godie Hale, and maternal grandfather, Ceba C. Abbott. He is survived by his father, Clayton B. (Jim) Hamilton, 82, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, leaving behind a loving family and many dear friends. He worked as a welder at the Norfolk Naval Yard during World War II, before starting a 50-year career as a professional dry cleaner. He and his wife, Janice, owned and operated Citizen’s Dry Cleaners in Pound for nearly 30 years, before retiring in 1991. Jim had a deep passion for the game of baseball and was one of the founding members of the Pound Little League Program. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vesta Lane, his father, Richard McClure, two brothers, Ed Hamilton and Roy Lane, and one sister, Myrtle Calhoun. He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Janice Boggs Hamilton of Pound; two sons, Jimmy Dale Hamilton and wife Glenna of Pound and Randy Hamilton and wife Stephenie of Pound; two daughters, Mitzi Slemp and husband Glen and Tempi Hale and husband Ron of Galax; three grandchildren, Kathy Hamilton, Bardlee Hamilton and Drew Slemp; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan Ryan Hamilton and Abigail Hamilton, all of Pound. Hendrix DAMASCUS – Rev. Robert R. "Little Rev." Hendrix, age 77, of Woods Landing Apartments, passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at his residence. He was a retired Methodist minister. Rev. Holyfield WISE – Charles Eugene Holyfield, 70, passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at the Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap. He was a retired security guard from Glamorgan Land Corp. and was a peacetime veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph Holyfield and Inez Sizemore Holyfield Whitaker, and a son, Michael E. Holyfield. Born Jan. 3, 1946, in Bristol Virginia, the son of the late Fred Keesee and the late Lucille Davis Keesee, he had lived in Castlewood, moving to Boone, N.C. and Atlanta, returning to Castlewood five years ago. Don Junior Kegley COVINGTON – Don Junior "Red" Kegley, 59, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004. He was born Aug. 13, 1945, in Lebanon, a son of the late Guy Turner and Goldie Mae Hughes Kegley. Mr. Kegley grew up in Lebanon, where his fondest memories were of growing up on the small farm as a child. He started out working for R.H. Boulney Electrical Company as a lineman. He finished out his electrical career with Davis H. Elliot Company, with 20 years as a foreman. Mr. Kegley was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fixing up his old Bronco with his buddies. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Robinson and Goldie Adams, four brothers, John Kegley, Bill Kegley, Guy Kegley and Arthur Kegley, and one brother-in-law, Ed Robinson. He was born in Wise County, Va., and lived most of his life in Powell Valley. He was retired from Westmoreland Coal Co., with 32 years service. He was a member of Legion Memorial United Methodist Church in Powell Valley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Pearl (McCamy) Meade, one daughter, Barbara Meade Woods, his parents, Luther and Gertie (O’Dell) Meade, and one brother, Walter Meade. "Tommy" Parks, age 62, of 553 Deck Valley Road, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 3, 1942, in Bristol, a son of the late Tom and Violet Travis Parks, and he lived in Maryland, before moving back to Bristol. He was a former employee of P.J.M. and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Hendershot, and a brother, Roger D. Parks. At Tommy’s request his body will be cremated. Margaret Lee Shock DUNGANNON, Va. – Margaret Lee Addington Shock, 84, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at the Brian Center, following an extended illness. She had been a resident there for the last several months due to her illness. She was born in Dante, Va., on Sept. 14, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Arnold Lee and Pearl Buchanan Addington. Margaret had lived in the Castlewood and St. Paul area until she became ill and went to live with her daughter in Dungannon. Margaret had also lived several years in Defiance, Ohio, having moved back to Virginia in 1978. After returning to Virginia from Ohio, she made her residence in the Red Oak Ridge area of Castlewood. She was a member of the House of the Lord Church in Red Oak Ridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl William Shock, whose birthday was Dec. 13, a son, William Lawrence (Larry) Hicks, Montpelier, Ohio, two sisters, Kathleen in infancy and Mary Belle Grady, two brothers, Joseph in infancy and Ray Addington of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Left behind to cherish her memories are her daughter, Carol Sluss and husband Noah, Dungannon; daughter-in-law, Diane Hicks, Continental, Ohio; sisters, Marie Sproles, Castlewood, Charlotte Frazier and husband Bobby, Mt. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 7:30 p.m., with her nephew, Glenn Addington of Elizabethton officiating. Music will be provided by Debbie Bufkin. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Temple Hill Memorial Park. Members of the Scott County Life Saving Crew will serve as pallbearers. The family will meet at the cemetery.
