Eula Frances Harris ABINGDON – Eula Frances Harris, age 85, died Wednesday at her residence. She was born in Washington County the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Ollie Hogue Browning Dukes. She was a member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church. She was a retired registered nurse from Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Harris, and two sisters, Ethel Dukes James and Lois Dukes James. Survivors include one sister, Margaret K. Joyner BRISTOL, Tenn. – William H. Joyner, age 63, of 1010 Southside Ave., went to be with the Lord. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at Wellmont Hospice House. He was born July 19, 1941, a son of the late Barney B. and Mary Sue Leonard Joyner, and was preceded in death by a brother, Benny F. Joyner. William attended Higher Ground Fellowship Church of God and was a former employee of Industrial Decking and Roofing and Klopman Mills. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and most loved being outdoors surrounded by God’s creations, and enjoying them with his family and friends, whom he loved dearly. William was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife of 41 1/2 years, Lana Gail Joyner; his children, David D. Joyner and wife Sharon, and W. Kevin Joyner and Beverly S. Alexander; six grandchildren, Benjamin B. Alexander, Dustin D. Joyner, Justin J. Joyner, Christopher M. Joyner, Steven M. Williams II and Katie C. Preceding her in death were nine brothers, Ransom, Charles, George, Maynard, Node, Clint, Rube, Gaines and Henry, three sisters, Emma Taylor, Bert Puckett and Maggie Stoddard, and one great-granddaughter, Bronwyn Dean. Teresa Ann Lane HAYSI, Va. – Teresa A. Lane, age 45, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, after a battle with cancer. She was a homemaker. She was a 1992 graduate of Abingdon High School. During her school years, Stacy was active with sports as a cheerleader. Stacy attended the Gospel Tabernacle Church early in her life. It was here that she was first saved and baptized. She had also attended the Mount Carmel Christian Church. Stacy is survived by her beautiful daughter, Chelsea Brianne McCray, age 10, who was the love of her life; her mother, Nancy Crosswhite Mink of Abingdon; her father, Ronnie Mink of Abingdon; maternal grandmother, Nadine Crosswhite Kessee of Meadowview; her aunts and uncles, Ralph and Rita Crosswhite of Meadowview; Wayne (Tank) and Tannis Crosswhite of Meadowview, Jimmy and Ruth Mink of Abingdon, Shirley Brooks of Chattanooga, Tenn., David and Emily Kestner of Hopewell, Va., and Barbara Bingham of Richmond, Va.; a nephew, Nick Boardwine of Abingdon; a very special cousin, Duwana Mann of Richmond; and Donald E. Albert Miles Perkins MARION – Albert Miles Perkins, age 75, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. He was born in Grayson County, Va., to the late George and Daisy Perkins, and attended the Lutheran School in Konnorock. He was retired from the Fairfax County Police Department, with over 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was a 1983 graduate of Garden High School, graduating in the top 10 in his class. In 1985, he graduated from Southwest Virginia Community College, and in 1987, he graduated magna cum laude from UVa at Wise. He was employed with Health Care Associates at Norton. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Polly Jane Pack, and his paternal grandparents, Claude and Ethel Russ. Ernest Franklin Ryburn ABINGDON – Ernest Franklin (Frank) Ryburn, 74, formerly of Glade Spring, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004. He was a long-time resident of Washington County and was a member of Old Glade Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a deacon, elder, teacher and superintendent of Sunday School . Mr. Ryburn had previously taught at the Washington County Technical School and was supervisor of maintenance for the Washington County School System at his retirement. After retiring, Frank was a consultant for Can Engineering. Mr. Ryburn had served in the U.S. Army and was a high school football official for 27 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Willie Mae Ryburn, and a brother, Robert Earle Ryburn. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Irene (Bobbie) Ryburn; his daughters, Vicky R.
