She was born in Russell County, Va., daughter of the late Oscar and Odie Maggie Hartsock Rose. She is survived by her husband, Grover Gray Bradley; one daughter, Brenda Bradley Kegley and husband Garland Gene of Nickelsville, Va.; one son, Grover Gray Bradley Jr. and wife Jane of Castlewood; two sisters, Oma Hartsock of Nickelsville, Va., and Frances Hensley of Castlewood; one brother, C.J. "Junior" Rose of Coeburn; one granddaughter, Cindy Herron and husband Jeremy of Nickelsville; two grandsons, Joshua Kegley and wife Micah of Rogersville, Tenn., and Jason Kegley of Nickelsville; and several nieces and nephews. Ethel Edith Cochran GRUNDY – Ethel Edith Stiltner Cochran, 80 years of age, of Route 2 passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va., following a short illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was a daughter of the late Reece and Vergie Mae Stiltner Stiltner. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and a member of Grundy Church of Christ for more than 20 years. Ethel was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and sister, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Cochran was preceded in death by her husband, George Cochran Jr., Jan. 10, 1986. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Cochran and husband Dave Justus, Grundy, and Helen Cochran Stacy, Grundy; two sisters, Mildred Skeens, Grundy, and Lenore H. Stiltner, Hambley, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Timothy James Stacy, Charlotte, N.C., Paige Elena Stacy, Blacksburg, Va., and Teddy David and wife Crystal Justus, Grundy. Lynthlin, age 49, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon. He had resided the last several months at Maple Grove Nursing Home. Born in Kentucky, he was a son of Matilda Geraldine Harris and the late Walter Franklin Lynthlin. He was of the Baptist faith and was last employed in shipping for a carpet mill. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold, Franklin and Jack Lynthlin, and two sisters, Stella M. Lynthlin and Dixie Hamilton. In addition to his mother, Geraldine, he is survived by two sons, Justin and Josh Lynthlin, both of Chatsworth, Ga.; one daughter, Joy Ann Calton Manning of London, Ky.; one grandson, Colby Allen Lynthlin; four brothers, Herman Kelly Holcumb of Chatsworth, William Clayton Lynthlin of Tennessee, and Howard and Roger Lynthlin, both of Cleveland, Va.; four sisters, Emma Katherine Lynthlin of Dante, Va., Mildred Ann Colley of Vansant, Shirley Lynn Goodson of Goodwater, Ala., and Lettie T. Stacy Mink McCray ABINGDON – Stacy Mink McCray was born May 17, 1974, and would have been 30 years old this year. She was a 1992 graduate of Abingdon High School. During her school years, Stacy was active with sports as a cheerleader. Stacy attended the Gospel Tabernacle Church early in her life. It was here that she was first saved and baptized. She had also attended the Mount Carmel Christian Church. Stacy is survived by her beautiful daughter, Chelsea Brianne McCray, age 10, who was the love of her life; her mother, Nancy Crosswhite Mink of Abingdon; her father, Ronnie Mink of Abingdon; maternal grandmother, Nadine Crosswhite Kessee of Meadowview; her aunts and uncles, Ralph and Rita Crosswhite of Meadowview, Wayne (Tank) and Tannis Crosswhite of Meadowview, Jimmy and Ruth Mink of Abingdon, Shirley Brooks of Chattanooga, Tenn., David and Emily Kestner of Hopewell, Va., and Barbara Bingham of Richmond; a nephew, Nick Boardwine of Abingdon; a very special cousin, Duwana Mann of Richmond; and Donald E. McCray Jr., who is Chelsea’s father. A memorial service for Stacy will be conducted at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, in the Gospel Tabernacle Church on Enterprise Road, with Pastor Tim Norris and Rev. John Suit officiating. Albert Miles Perkins MARION – Albert Miles Perkins, age 76, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2003, in the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. He was born in Grayson County, Va., to the late George and Daisy Perkins, and attended the Lutheran School in Konnorock. He was retired from the Fairfax County Police Department with over 27 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. Survivors include: wife of 53 years, Joyce Perkins; one son, Rick Perkins, Stafford, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Alta and Steve Jones, Minneapolis; one sister, Fina Mae Sheets, Mouth of Wilson; grandchildren, Nicole Jones and Karyn Jones; step-grandchildren, Tony and Andy Lopez; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main St., Abingdon, is serving the Ryburn family. Edward L. Small CARSON CITY, Nev. – Mr. Edward L. Small, age 74, passed away on Nov. 16, 2004, in Carson City. He was born June 15, 1930, in Michigan to John William Small and Mae Wiltse. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, Mich. He married Claudia Prator on Nov. 27, 1998, in Carson City. He lived in Carson City for the last eight years, coming from Saltville. He was a volunteer fireman in Saltville. Edward was a minister for 27 years in Virginia and he owned and operated Small’s Appliance. He served the U.S. Marines for nine years. He was a member of the Chosen Few. He belonged to the Marine Corps League, the VFW, Korean War Veterans Association, the American Legion, the Lions Club and Kiwanis Club in Saltville. He enjoyed camping, his HO railroad, traveling and meeting people. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill Small and first wife Carrol Crowgey Small. Survivors: his wife, Claudia Small of Carson City; two sons, Brian Fike of Kennewick. Wash., and Sean Fike of Valley Park, Mo.; four daughters, Anne Flues of Woodbridge, Va., Virginia Small of Knoxville, Tenn., Rhonda Ralls of Boise, Idaho, and Melissa Clark of Beaumont, Tenn.; two sisters, Shirley Valli of Kernersville, N.C., and Marian Deno of Colorado Spring, Colo.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Mr. Small will be held at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Saltville on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Wytheville Cemetery in Wytheville.
