Mr. Cardwell was a mechanic by trade, while living in Dayton and Columbus, Ohio, for several years before moving back to Bristol in 1989. He was of the Baptist faith. Born Feb. 16, 1914, in Russell County, Va., he was a son of the late Samuel and Margie Bonnie Combs. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a retired farmer. He attended Mt. Born March 12, 1916, in Russell County, a daughter of the late Pete Kiser and the late Melissa Wilson Kiser, she was the wife of the late Cecil W. Gray. Sharon Louise Ledford BRISTOL, Tenn. – Sharon Louise Ledford, age 66, was serenaded by angels on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center, after suffering a stroke. Mrs. Ledford was born on Sept. 9, 1938, in Bristol Tennessee, a daughter of the late Marshall Allen and Neta G. Carrier Godsey. She had lived most of her life in the Bristol area and was a baker. Mrs. Ledford was a member of the Volunteer Baptist Church and attended Bethelview Baptist Church. She was loved and was a blessing to everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Tommy Harkleroad and Max Ledford, one brother, Charles Godsey, and one sister, Iva Godsey. Mr. McRae was born on March 12, 1917, in Alberta, Canada, a son of the late William and Emma McRae. Mr. McRae had lived in the Bristol area for the past three months, coming from Owls Head, Maine. Mr. McRae was a veteran, having served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a research scientist, employed by Rohm and Haas, in Springhouse, Pa. Mr. McRae was a member of the Lakeview Orthodox Presbyterian Church, in Rockport, Maine. Peggy enjoyed the life of one wonderful daughter, LeAnne Goff and husband Bryan, Glade Spring, was a housewife for the last three years, and was previously employed by Marley Molding. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m. at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hill, Va., with Rev. Gerald Lester and Rev. Peerman Lester officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, at Honaker Funeral Home. Owens Funeral Service, Lebanon, is in charge of arrangements.
