She was a daughter of the late Worley and Sue (Wolford) Baker. She was a member of the Lighthouse Bible Church and graduated from Central High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Marie Baker, who passed away in 2002. Brenda is survived by her brother and sister in law, Larry and Patty Baker; her niece, Sarah Baker; her nephews, Daniel and David Baker; and her grandmother, Fanny Baker, all of Blountville. Bruce was born March 15, 1931, a son of the late Roy Sr. and Lennie Osborne Carrier, and has made his home in the Hickory Tree Community all of his life. Mr. Carrier was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired deputy property assessor for Sullivan County. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Roy Jr. Carrier. Dorothy Briscoe Sadler Dorothy "Dot" Briscoe Sadler, age 87, formerly of Harriman, Tenn., went to be with the Lord, Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004. She was a native of Knoxville, Tenn., and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1939, with a B.S. degree in nutrition. She was dietitian for the Girl Scout Camps in Townsend and for St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville, before moving to Harriman to become the school dietitian in 1940. She then became an educator and, during her years of teaching, had the distinction of having taught in every school in the Harriman system. She was actively involved with the Roane Literary Council in teaching adults to read. She also served 12 years as a member of the Harriman School Board and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Harriman for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Sadler Sr. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Oles Miller of Bristol Tennessee; son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Margaret Sadler of Metairie, La., and sons, Braxton L. Mrs. Shumaker was a former member of the Maple Hills Garden Club. She was a member of Blountville Christian Church, where she and Bud were leaders of the youth group and was a mother to many of the church children in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Mrs. Shumaker was the daughter of the late Charlie and Onietta Lane Peters, and was a wonderful wife. Mrs. Shumaker is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Brady "Bud" Shumaker; one sister, Pauline V. Peters of Bristol Tennessee; and cousins.
