She was a daughter of the late Clyde and Nora Sandidge, and was of the Methodist faith. She was a lover of music and dance, a wonderful gardener and an impeccable housekeeper. She was always soft-hearted, loving and caring and a generous and understanding person to all she knew. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Borst, her son, Stephen Banks, a granddaughter, Monica Fay Banks, and two brothers, Jack and Sam Sandidge. Survivors include two daughters, Olivia Jane Robinson of Bristol Tennessee and Rebecca A. Banks of Blountville; two sisters, Patricia Booher and Margaret Taylor, both of Bristol Tennessee; one brother, Mitch Sandidge of Blountville; three grandchildren, Michele Hayes of Bristol Virginia, Stevie Banks of Indianapolis and Eric Crawford of Bristol Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Mudfork Church of Christ. She retired from Tazewell County Public Schools, where she had worked as a cook in the Tazewell High School cafeteria. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Bowman, one son, Walter Bowman, two brothers and four sisters. Mr. Holbrook was a native of Bull Run, Va., and had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Robert L Holbrook and Vicie Jane Burton Holbrook, and was also preceded in death by his former wife, Mozelle Wolfe Holbrook, and three brothers, Curtis Holbrook, Leslie Holbrook and James Holbrook. Mr. Holbrook was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from Clinchfield Railroad as an assistant to the trainmaster. Mr. Holbrook attended Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. He loved to dance, tell a funny story, loved people, loved to attend family entertainment shows, travel and he played the fiddle in his younger days. Mr. Holbrook is survived by his wife, Joyce Byrd Holbrook, Johnson City; his former wife, Margaret Holbrook, Johnson City: one daughter, Judy Johnson and her husband Romulus R. Johnson, Limestone; one son, Robin V. Born in Maryland, Sept. 25, 1969, he was the son of Lacy Justus and Shirley Rife Justus of Vansant, Va. He was a 1987 graduate of Whitewood High School, attended Southwest Virginia Community College and Virginia Intermont College and was a graduate of Radford University, with a bachelor of science degree. He was a former mortgage loan consultant, of the Baptist faith, an avid outdoorsman and loving son, brother and father. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Olen Justus, and maternal grandparents, Earl and Lydia Rife. In addition to his parents, Lacy Justus and Shirley Rife Justus of Vansant, he is survived by one son, Skyler of Bluff City; three sisters, Lisa D. Wagner of Pilgrims Knob, Va., Michelle A. Anderson of Vansant and Elizabeth D. Justus of Abingdon; two brothers, Thomas E. Rife of Townsend, Del., and John Paul Justus of Vansant; paternal grandmother, Oma Justus of Paynesville, W.Va. "Bob" Linkous, 82, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at the Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center in Kingsport. He was born Oct. 14, 1922, at Cranes Nest, Va. and his family moved to Clinchco, Va. in 1925, where he attended school and graduated in 1941. Bob entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 5, 1943, and was discharged Dec. 4, 1945. He received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in the Battle of the Bulge, Dec. 18, 1944. While in service, Bob earned the Expert Rifleman's Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Ribbon, European-African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon. He was involved in five battle campaigns in Europe, which earned him five Battle Stars. His Army unit received the Presidential Citation and the Belgium Croix De Guerre Citation for outstanding performance of duty in action against overwhelming forces in the Battle of the Bulge from December 17, through December 23, 1944, at St. Vith, Belgium. He was a member of the Wise Trinity United Methodist Church, Clintwood Masonic Lodge 66 and Barrett Royal Arch Chapter 76, both of Clintwood. He was a Shriner, a Kentucky Colonel, a Tennessee Colonel, Tennessee Squire, life member of Military Order of the Purple Heart, life member of DAV Chapter 56 of Wise, life member of VBOB, life member of VFW Post 4301 of Norton and member of the American Legion Post 143 of Norton. Since 1968, Bob made his home in Wise. He worked in the coal mines for more than 35 years. The last 11 years, he worked as a federal coal mine inspector out of Norton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene B. and Willie Mae Currin Linkous, an infant daughter, Cynthia H. Linkous, five brothers, George, Jim, Blue, Sug and Ralph Linkous, and four sisters, Opal Linkous, Clara Bond, Edna Horne and Willie "Bill" Holyfield. Surviving are three daughters, Sharon Neece and husband Oscar and Barbara Collins and husband Stan, all of Wise, and Wendy Vanover and husband Richard of Big Stone Gap, Va.; two sons, Robert E. Linkous and wife Ronda of Big Stone Gap and Joseph S. Linkous and wife Teresa of Glen Allen, Va.; four sisters, Ginger Campney and Fran Morse of Penn Yan, N.Y., Betty Stallard of Richmond, Va., and Margaret Baker of Clintwood; 11 grandchildren, Michael R. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of Ratliff Chapel and was employed by Cat Bird Mining Company as a pin operator. She was born June 16, 1916, in Columbus, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late George Allen and Ruth Eleanor Gordon Linley. She was a wife, mother and homemaker for most of her life and a member of the Harvest Christian Fellowship in Bristol Tennessee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Odgar L. Mason, who died Sept. 24, 1984, a son, Larry Mason, and two brothers, Gordon Allen Linley and Kenneth Eugene Linley. She is survived by two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Duane (Sharon Kay) Williams of Kingsport, Mrs. Jonnie (Lynn Ellen) Darnell of Bluff City, with whom she resided, Jack Lee (Dianne) Mason of Meadowview, Donald Lysle Mason of Phoenix, Ariz., and Henry Hudson (Connie) Mason of Dover, Ohio; two sisters, Katherine Lucille Skinner of Spokane Valley, Wash., and Mrs. Delbert (Delores Marie) Bush of Clarksburg, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was born Aug. 26, 1930, in Bristol Virginia, a daughter of the late Wallace and Mary Lee Booher, and has lived her life in the Bristol area. She was a retired employee of Gordon Garment, a former employee of Wal-Mart and a former employee of Jobbers Candy Company. She was a member of Norfolk Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of the Hat Club. She was the widow of Bee McGlamary. She is survived by daughter, Brenda Alexander and husband Ralph; sons, Ronnie McGlamary and Chris McGlamary; grandchildren, Melanie Tepedino, Jeff Murray, Marsha Ryan, Martha Alexander, Mark Booher, Isiah McGlamary and Israel McGlamary; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. MARION – Bobby R. Stamper, age 72, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at the Kindred Hospital in Tampa, Fla. Mr. Stamper was born Nov. 19, 1932, to the late Coy and Atha Stamper. He was employed at the White House from 1951 until retiring in 1987, serving under eight presidents, from Harry Truman to Ronald Reagan. After retiring, he moved from District Heights, Md., to Brogue, Pa., and was an active church worker, ordained deacon and had preached in many churches. He was a member of Whitetop Baptist Church and, after moving to New Port Richey, Fla., in 1995, he was the minister for Hacienda Park. Survivors include: wife, Geneva Miller Stamper; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and wife Jeanne, Midlothian, Va., and Keith and wife Lisa, Dover, Pa.; one daughter and son-in-law, Anita and husband Jim, Hoschton, Ga.; one sister and brother-in-law, Erma and husband Murphy, Draper, Va.; grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and many friends also survive. He was born May 22, 1920, the son of the late Dr. Robert Gleve Warren and Rosa Jordan Warren, and was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Walton Warren Jr., his former wife, Edna Hill Warren, and his brother, Robert Gleve Warren. He graduated from Liberty High School in Williamson, W.Va., and after serving with the U.S. Army in Guam during World War II, he attended West Virginia State College at Institute, W.Va., and Morris Brown College in Atlanta. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi social fraternity. He was employed at Lockheed Aircraft Company in Atlanta and also worked in the U.S. Postal Service. He became a Marion resident in the 1960s and was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, until its closing, and later Grace United Methodist Church. Mr. Warren had been a resident of Valley Health Care for the past two years. He was a self-made artist and had showings at Wachovia Banks, Marion Primary School, the Art Place in Chilhowie and the McGraw Military Base in Munich, Germany. He donated all of his art that he had on his walls at Valley Heath Care Center to the Mt. Pleasant Black Heritage Museum. He loved to travel and visited in Canada and in most of the western European countries. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Michelle Warren Foster and husband Rev. Dwight Foster, Atlanta, Phyllis Warren Axam and husband Andre Axam, Atlanta; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosalie Warren Smith, Atlanta and Coletta Warren Pilz and husband Hans Pilz, Munich, Germany; one brother, Hoyt Jordan Warren, Atlanta; two nieces; four nephews; a very dear friend, Evelyn Lawrence, of Marion; sister, Ruby Peoples and sons, Gordon and Norman; and a host of other relatives and friends. She died Monday, at the age of 94. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lynn W. Whiteside. She was active in many volunteer organizations, including a long service history with St. Joseph Hospital. Along with her husband, she attended Emory & Henry College near Abingdon. He was born on June 8, 1925, in Grayson County, Va., to the late John Edmond Winesett and Hallie Carson Winesett. Edmond was preceded in death by his wife, Gae Crowe Winesett, a brother, Whit Winesett, and a sister, Hallie Gwyn. He had lived in Mt. Airy, N.C. as a young man and had made his home in Washington County, Va., since 1947. Edmond was a retired carpenter, brick mason and farmer. He had served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was a member of the Marion VFW Post 4667. He was a long-time member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he had also served as deacon of the church. Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Jo Davis and husband Howard, Andrea W.
