He was 76. Adair was president of the Bristol Jaycees, vice president of the Bristol chapter of the American Red Cross and a member of the Bristol Public Library Board. He was associated with Dominion National Bank and with the city of Bristol Virginia as city clerk and auditor. He later was business manager of Virginia Intermont College. The Bristol native and Navy veteran was a son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Hugh H. Adair. He was a graduate and valedictorian of the Virginia High School class of 1943 and was a 1948 graduate of the University of Richmond. Adair was an active member of State Street United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Bane Nickell. Survivors include his wife, Doris Wampler Adair; a daughter, Robin Adair Reese of Bristol; a son, Thomas Adair of Richmond; three grandchildren, Brandon Reese and Amelia Adair and William Adair; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at State Street UMC with the Revs. Fred Dearing and Jane Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. A private committal service and burial will be held Friday at Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Public Library, 701 Goode St., Bristol, VA 24201; the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2727 Enterprise Parkway, Suite 201, Richmond, VA 23494; or to State Street United Methodist Church, 300 W.
