She was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church and former owner of A and A Antiques. She was preceded in death by her father, J.W. Saltz. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Freddie Lee Atkins; twin daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Benny James and Teresa and Charles Murray, all of Bristol Tennessee; granddaughter, Chelsea James, and grandson, Steven Murray; mother, Rosa Lee Saltz of Abingdon; one sister, Betty J. Arnold, Abingdon; brother, Jerry W. Saltz, Abingdon; two nieces; and two nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cass Farrior officiating. Burial will follow at Holston Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be deacons of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, Pete Booher, Harley Taylor, Bruce Taylor, David Ryan, Keith Hobbs, Elwood Bumgardner and Carl Jackson. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 3, 6 to 8 p.m. at Weaver Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HolstonValley Baptist Church Cemetery, 18396 Cleveland Road, Abingdon,VA. A very special thanks to the nursing staff of Two West at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center, Wellmont Hospice House, Dr. Sue Prill and Dr. Bennett Cowan. Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her. Bonnie is at peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
