Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born in Norton and lived the past 18 years in Bristol. He was retired from the U.S. Armed Forces, having served in the Navy, Army and Marines. He was a member of Benhams Baptist Church. Mr. Jones brought great joy to his stepfamily. Survivors include: wife, Fairie Sproles Jones; stepchildren, Robert Leonard and wife Judy, Howard Leonard, Dale Leonard and wife Janice, Fred Leonard and wife Carolyn and Gary Leonard and wife Sandy; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Love and husband Ed, Ardis Jackson and husband Paul, Bonnie Roark, Doris Worley and husband Allen and Carolyn Joyce Billings; 17 step- grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great- grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Jones and Creed Jones; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, in the Benhams Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Keene and Dr. Charles Sherffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be step- grandsons and great-grandsons, Bob Leonard, David Worley, Jeff Jackson, Jon Leonard, Nathan Leonard, Keith Roark and Jason Leonard. Honorary pallbearers will be step-grandsons and great-grandsons, Phil Leonard, Danny Leonard, Eric Leonard, Michael Moore, and in memory of a special step-grandson, Brian Worley. The body of Mr. Jones will be taken to the church one hour before the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday evening at the Weaver Funeral Home.
