Kistner Harold Dennis Kistner went to be with our Lord on Dec., 14, 2002. Born on June 19, 1924, he was a native of Bristol Virginia. He was the son of the late Robert W. Kistner and Leanna Dennis Kistner. He graduated from Virginia High School in 1943 and attended Nashville Technical School where he later graduated. He attended VPI, ETSU, Phillips University and the University of South Carolina, taking courses pertaining to his trade as a master builder and contractor. Mr. Kistner became a general building contractor in the Bristol area from 1951 to present. Mr. Kistner served in the Armed Forces with the Corps of Engineers from 1943 to 1946. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of the Central Christian Church, Bristol Tennessee. He served on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army and was an acting member of the Bristol Civitan Club where he was a past president and was a member of the Optimist Club. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a leader of the Boy Scouts of America for 35 years and attained the Pioneer Award. Mr. Kistner is survived by: wife of 59 years, Arbie Reed Kistner; two sons, Harold Dennis Kistner and wife Betty and John Reed Kistner and wife Sharon; and daughter, Meri Kistner Willett and husband Paul. Mr. Kistner was a proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth Wayne Kistner and Carl Keith Kistner, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kistner was preceded in death by brothers, Donald, Robert, Thomas and David; and two sisters, Yvonne and Louise. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at the Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Ross Dampier and Jeff Noah, minister, officiating. Entombment will be in the Mountain View Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Weaver Funeral Home.
