She was born in Johnson City to the late James P. and Bertha Smith Stout. Mrs. Slagle had lived 65 years in the Bristol area, was a housewife and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Horace Slagle. Mrs. Slagle is survived by two daughters: Joann Garrettson of Greeneville, Tenn.; and Phyllis Jane Bryant of Indiana; three sons: Donald B. Slagle Sr. of Bristol Tennessee; Teddy Joe Slagle of Bristol Virginia; and James Rick Slagle of Bristol Virginia; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Gary Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Baumgardner and Mike Campbell. There will be no public visitation at the funeral home.
