She was born in Washington County, Va.,. a daughter of the late Nicholas "Pat" and Laura Lydiabell Tester Blaylock. She retired from Pacific Telephone Company in Anaheim, Calif., and returned to this area in 1983. She was a member of Westhighlands Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tolbert was preceded in death by her husband, Audley Vale Tolbert; and a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and John "Hencle" Brewer. She is survived by a sister, Kathy Barrett of Bristol Tennessee; a niece, Patty Hyland and her husband, Martin; two nephews, Sam Barrett of Bristol and John Barrett and his wife, Michelle, Knoxville; and several aunts, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, Jan. 17, at Westhighlands Church with Dr. J. Samuel Rasnake officiating. The committal service and interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Barrett, John Barrett, Nick Hopkins, David Rosenbaum, Jack Hill, Bill Carter, Bo Carter and Martin Hyland. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff and volunteers of the Widow's Mite Program of the King Benevolent Fund and Charlie Chevalier. The family wishes to extend special gratitude to the physicians of Bristol Medical Associates, the pulmonary physicians and nurse practitioner of Blue Ridge Medical Specialists and to the staff of 3 West at Bristol Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 Friday afternoon at the church prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family via email to condolences@blevinsfuneralhome.com.
