Clayton Family Deed Abstracts, 1746-1784 - BRUNSWICK CO.,VA. Book 2, page 509. Whereas In consideration of a Bond this Day given me by John Short, John Clayton, and William Abernathy, Britain Clayton I do hereby Renounce all claims of me or my heirs to the estate of John Clayton, deceased of isle of Wight County or George Clayton deceased of Brunswick County as Witnefs my hand & Seal this 23rd day of November 1784. Between Ralph Dunkley of the County of Brunswick of the one part & George Clayton of the same County of the other part .....in Consideration of the sum of thirty pounds current monty of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said George Clayton grant to the said George Clayton one tract or parcel of land containing two hundred and three acres lying and being iin the County of Brunswick on the South Side of Dardens Branch. 4 June 1746. Book 3, page 572. From Ralph Dunkley of the parish of St. Andrews & County of Brunswick to George Clayton of the parish and county aforesaid for the sum of eighty pounds current money of Virginia one tract or parcel of land situated and being on the Ridge between Wagua and Sturgeon Run and adjoining the lines of the said Clayton, Fisher & Griffin. (Number of acres not given). June 1, 1749. Book 7, page 373. This Indenture made the twenty first Day of September in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and sixty three between George Clayton of the one part and Charles Clayton of the other part. The said George Clayton for and in Consideration of Natural Love and Effection which he hath & do bear unto the said Charles Clayton his son and also for the better maintainance & perferment of the said Charles Clayton doth grant unto the said Charles Clayton a ceertain tract of land & a negro fellow named Arribin lying and being in Brunswick containing by estimation seven hundred and thirty eight acres. Begining at Vaughans Line thence to Pools line, thence to Major's line, thence to Griffins line to Fishers line & then to the Beaver Pond Branch. Witness: John Ingram, John Love, James Love.
