Hammer Letter Researching the Parents of Mark Lambert Jackson, 1983 - Brunswick Co. VA Letter from Charlie Manire Hammer Nov 1983 to Jnez (i. Mosley Now after you read this I'd like to know your honest opinion your and my research. Yes, I too did a supplemental DAR on Mark Jackson from his war record saying he was born in Brunswick Col VA. ca 1740. I thought he was thrice married and for #3 he had married Leanna Betsy Webb (our line). I really marveled at the age difference and falsely accused him of marrying a baby girl daughter of a war companion, John Webb. Not the picture has changed. Leannah is not Elizabeth or Betsey, but Leannah Basye Webb, daughter of John Webb and Hannah Rainey. John Webb was a Revolutionary Soldier and I have a supplemental out on him now Mark Lambert Jackson was the son of Jemima Jackson Lambert not Pamin as the typed copy of his will indicated, and originally when Mark was age 14 John Lambert gave to him 500 acres of land and five slaves. John was married to Elizabeth and she signed the paper. John Lambert was a Revolutionary soldier and he and Elizabeth had issue. After Elizabeth died, John married Jemima Jackson in Mecklenburg Co. VA. Mark Lambert Jackson married #1 Drucilla Rainey, the license was bought in Virginia (Mecklenberg, I believe) and married her in _______________? See marriage record on fish film there at Nashville Library. They had some children, then he married our Leannah in July 1797. ( Mr Trigg, this is from memory and I may be off on some dates, but I have proven material.) Their license was bought in Brunswick Co. VA and they married in Mecklenburg Co. VA. My Susannah or Susan My beloved Ann Elzabeth as she was called by her husband Lemel Maniere was born in August 1798. Her marriage and Mark L's will calls her Susannah, Lemuel's will says my beloved Susan Ann Elizabeth. Her grave stone and census is Susan A.E. She without doubt is my line and daughter of Leannah and Mark. There has been lots of research on Mark Lambert Jackson. His father, I believe, is John Lambert. John Lambert was his god father and I haven't seen where godfather was more liberal with godsons than their own issue. Looks like to me Jemima and John Lambert really loved each other. Not a pretty picture, but its happened before and wifl. Now our Jemima Jackson was a daughter of John Jackson, whose will is recorded in Anson Co. N.C. in 1872. Anson Co. was once about 1/2 of N.C., then the top half of the half was cut off and made Rowan, out of which is not Warren and lots more counties, of course. The Anson part was also made into many counties. We've had all kinds of rumors of our illustrious kin, as Andrew Jacks on etc. The World Encyclopedia says he is a son of Andrew, who came to S. C. from over seas ? In 1767. Andrew was born in 1777 in S.C. That leaves him out of my 3 different Jackson lines. Now, which son do you descend from? I see you are from Minerva and S.K. Hays. I have a record of them. (paragraph not readable) Back to Leannah. She deeded her property to part of her children 1838-39, 50 she didn't die in 1833. Her youngest son, William, was born 1826, I believe, after Mark Lambert died. Sincerely, Charlie Manure Hammer and Mrs. WE.
