Will of Richard Branscome, 1775 - Brunswick Co. VA (Brunswick County Will Book #4, Part 2, Pages 439-441) Into the name of God amen, March twentieth, one thousand seven hundred seventy five, I Richard Branscome of Brunswick County and parish of Meherrin, being sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say: IMPRIMIS I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Branscome 100 acres of land more or less from the narrow branch to the Haw Branch not touching the low grounds of Douglas Run, it being the place for on he now lives to him and his tears forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Richard Branscome 200 acres of land more or less on the south side of the upper spring run it being part of that tract of land I sold to Robert Williamson also his first choice of my beds and furniture to him and his heirs forever... Item: I give and bequeath to my son John Branscome the land and plantation where I now live containing 200 acres more or less. After the death of my loving wife Sarah Branscome also one feather dead and furniture to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Branscome one feather bed and furniture and also one loom I give to her and her heirs forever. Item: I land to my loving the wife Sarah Branscome during her natural life all the rest of my estate of what nature or kind soever and after her death the same to be equally divided between my three children, Richard, John, and Sarah Branscome, but if either of the three children, Richard, John or Sarah should marry before I die they shall not demand for any part of my estate lent to my said wife after her decease. Item: my will and desire is that if William Richardson do not pay for a tract of land that he purchased of me agreeable to his bond that the said land should be sold by my executors and the money be equally divided between my three children Richard, John and Sarah Branscome.... And lastly I appoint my loving wife Sara Branscome and my son Richard Branscome executor and executrix of this my last will and testament. Revoking all others by me heretofore made.
