The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Brunswick Co., VA, Will Book 19, pp. 443-444 Abstracted by Matt HARRIS [surname capitalization & brackets mine] [note in margin] Lockett FERGUSON's Will In the name of God, I Lockett FERGUSON of the County of Brunswick and State of Virginia, being of sound mind and disposing memory do make and ordain this writing as my Last Will and testament, to wit: I charge my Son Andrew J FERGUSON with the payment of my just debts which are not large from proceeds of my personal property at his election. 2.nd Having given and placed in possession thereof to all my Children older than my son Andrew J. propert of divers Kinds equal to my means, and worth severally in value, some hundreds of dollars, I do now give and bequeath to my Son Andrew J. the [page break] Plantation on which I now reside to him and his heirs forever. 3.d I give to my grandchild Richard J. KIDD, after all my debts are paid, one moiety of my personal property, to be Kept in charge by my son Andrew, and controled by him as Guardian, till my said Grandchild shall arrive at lawfull age, other moiety thereof to my son Andrew. 4.th I specially give to my Daughter Sarah T. MITCHELL the larger Sideboard and Mirror, and one good bed, bedstead, and furniture for same. FERGUSON Brunswick County Court June term 1868 This last will and testament of Locket FERGUSON dec.d was proved by the oaths of E.P. SCOTT A.W. FERGUSON & J.H. FERGUSON witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded, and on the motion of Andrew J FERGUSON the executor therein named who made oath thereto according to law, and, together with Willie J HOBBS his security entered into a bond in the penalty of $1000, conditioned as the law directs- which bond was acknowledged by the several obligors therein named and ordered to be recorded- certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of said will in due form.
