Will of Edward Huling, 1772 - Brunswick Co. VA Will Book 4 pg 91 February 24, 1772 In the Name of God Amen I Edward Huling of the county of Brunswick and parish of Maharin being sick and weak, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same and calling to mind the Mortality of Man and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do constitute ordain and appoint this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth. In the first place I give my Soul into the hands of God that gave it hoping at the General Resurrection to Receive pardon for all my Transgressions through the Merits of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and as to my Body I commit it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like manner according to the discretion of my Excutors nothing doubting but that I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as to my worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased almighty God to bless me with in this life I give and dispose of in manner and form as followeth ITEM I give unto my beloved wife Mary Huling all my lands, Negros, Stock and household goods during her life except Peter Pegg and all their children which said Peter Pegg and all the said Pegg's children I give and bequeath unto William Betty (son of Sarah Betty) to him and his heirs forever--I likewise give unto my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Love after the death of my said wife all my lands, Negros, Stock and Household goods (that I have given unto my said wife during her life) to her and her Heirs forever - I constitute and appoint my loving friend Hugh Love my whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament, my desire is that my said Executor do take the Negros Peter Pegg and the said Pegg's -- children into his possession and keep them until the said William Betty doth come to the age of twenty one years and he the said Hugh Love is to satisfy himself for the maintenance of the said Negros given under my hand and seal this eighteenth day of February one thousand seven hundred and seventy two.
