I Benjamin Ivey Senr of Brunswick County being sick and weak but of perfect and sound sense and memory praised be god for it and calling to mind that it is approved of God for men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament and first of all I give my soul to god hoping for the resurrection of Eternal life and my body to the dust from whence it came to be Buried in such Christian like manner as my executors hereafter mentioned shall think proper and as to my worldly estate that God of his infinate mercy hath bestowed on me I give and bequeath as in manner following. Item I lend unto my son Benjamin Ivey the mill plantation and all the land whereon I now live until my grandson Benjamin Ivey son of my son Benjamin Ivey comes to the age of Twenty and one years; and if my grandson aforementioned lives untill that time my will and desire is that my mill land and plantation afore mentioned then remain to him and his heirs forever. But if my grandson Benjamin Dies before he comes of age, my will and desire is that my son Benjamin Ivey may keep it and act and do with the plantation mill and land as he thinks proper. Item I give unto my son Benjamin Ivey one negro man named Roger. Item I give unto my Daughter Pattey Harvey one bed and the furniture belonging to it to her and her heirs forever. Item I give unto my daughter Polly Preston, one bed and the furniture belonging to it to her and her heirs forever. Item my will and desire is that all the rest of my whole estate be it of what kind or property soever may be sold and Equally divided between my Grand Daughter Nancy Harrison Finch and all my children then living. And last I appoint my son Benjamin Ivey Extr. of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my and and seal this Twenty eighth day of March one thousand seven hundred and ninety. This last Will and Testament of Benjamin Ivey decd was proved by the Oaths of Chisleu Curtis and Robert Lanier witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Benjamin Ivey Ste [?] the Executor therein named he having made oath thereto according to law and together with James McInvale and Abraham Smith his securities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of five hundred pounds with condition as the law directs.
