BRUNSWICK COUNTY, VIRGINIA - John Threadgill will File contributed by Jerry Threadgill In the name of god, Amen, I, John Threadgill of the County of Brunswick and Parish of St. Andrew, being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect memory thanks to Almighty God, and calling to rememberance the frailty of human life have made this my last will and testament following. I give, Imprimis, after my just debts are fully paid, bequeath to my loving wife Anabel, all my stock of cattle and my grey mare, and all my hogs, also fifteen head of sheep, one feather bed and furniture during her widowhood, also my plantation during her lifetime. Item, I give and bequeath to my sons William Threadgill and John Threadgill and their heirs forever, my land to be equally divided between them beginning at a dead poplar within the plantation about thirty yards from the river upon their paying seventy-four pounds current money to be equally divided between Thomas Threadgill, Randolph Threadgill, and George Threadgill. My will and desire is that my son William Threadgill shall have the lowest part of the land. Item, my will and desire is that my son Thomas Threadgill should have the first colt that the grey mare brings. Item, I give my sorrel mare to my son George Threadgill. Item, I give to my son Randolph Threadgill my grey mare at the death of my wife or upon her marriage. Item, I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Stone, two sheep. Item, my will and desire is that all the residue of my estate not mentioned, after debts being paid, I lend to my loving wife during her life or widowhood, and then all left her to be equally divided between my five sons William Threadgill, John Threadgill, Thomas Threadgill, Randolph Threadgill and George Threadgill. Lastly, I nominate, constitute and appoint my trusted and well beloved wife, my son William Threadgill, and my son John Threadgill, to be my Executors to this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and disannulling all former wills by me make and declaring this to be my last will and testament. Certificate is granted him for a probate thereof in due form and liberty is granted the other Executor (John Threadgill) herein named to qualify as they shall think fit.
