JOSIAH FLOYD 


In the name of God Amen I Josiah Floyd of the county of Brunswick and state of 
Virginia do make and ordain and declare this to be my last will and testament 
revoking all others:

First I give to my wife Rebecca Floyd and to my daughters Mary Floyd, Rebecca D. 
Floyd, Martha Floyd, Nancy Floyd and Elizabeth Floyd and th their heirs forever 
the tract of land on which I live containing three hundred six acres be the same 
more or less a sufficiency of plantation tools to cultivate the farm, two cows 
and calves, one ox cart and wheels the young yoke of working oxen and a support 
out of my estate for one year.

Item  I give to my daughters Mary, Rebecca D., Martha, Nancy and Elizabeth Floyd 
and to their heirs forever, three feather beds and furnature, two loomes with 
the slays and (___?__) belonging thereto three spinning wheels and three pair of 
cotton cards.

Item  There after the payment  of all my just debts, the residue of my estate 
(if any) I wish sold by my Executors here after named and the proceeds arising 
there from to be equally divided among all my children (viz) Drury, Jones, 
Joseph, John, Charles, James, William, Mary, Rebecca D., Martha, Nancy and 
Elizabeth Floyd which I give to them and theirs forever.  

Lastly, I constitute and appoint my friends James Seward and John Daly Executors 
to this my last will and testament. In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my 
hand and seal this 25th day of January 1820.

Brunswick County Court January 28th,1833
This last will and testament of Josiah Floyd decd was proved by the oaths of 
Chas. King Jr., Paseal Hicks and Theophulus White three of the witnesses thereto 
and ordered to be Recorded and as the motion of John Daly one of the Exect. 
named in the said will who made oath thereto according to law and together with 
John B. Thrower and James P. Harrison his securities entered into and 
acknowledged a bond in the penalty of eight thousand Dollars conditioned 
according to law.  Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probaat of the 
said decedents will in due form liberty being reserved for the other Executor 
named in the said will to join in the said probate where he thinks fit.

WILLIAM ELMORE

I do hereby desire and request that my Estate after paying my debts be
equally divided and given to my two daughters, Susan Elmore and
Elizabeth Stone this my last will and testament given this seventeenth
day of February one thousand eight hundred & thirty five.
