It is very old, but still being used. You can only reach it by walking up a steep path. Joseph Looney was one of the original settlers in Buchanan Co. He came there about 1823, following his uncle Robert there. He was born in 1805 and died in 1884. The original marker is right behind the second marker and we had to pull the two apart to get a picture. The second marker was very weathered. The placque is so close to the marker that I could not get all the dates. Someone has erected a placque. His two wives are buried alongside him. On his right is his first wife, Mary polly Looney, who was his first cousin, the daughter of Robert Looney. She was born 23 Nov 1810 and died 30 Mar 1852. On his left is Melissa Shortridge Looney who was born 12 May 1831 and died 01 Aug 1892. Their stones are only marked with their initials. Nearby is the grave of Miles Harvey Looney who was the sixth child of Joseph and Melissa Looney. The land where the cemetary is was owned by Joseph Looney and was deeded for use as a cemetary by him.
