Blevins GRUNDY -- William Wells "Bill" Blevins, 71 years of age, of the Slate Creek area, passed away Friday, March 14, 2003, in Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol Tennessee. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Grundy Funeral Home. Bristol Herald Courier Sunday, March 16, 2003 William W. Blevins GRUNDY -- William "Bill" Wells Blevins, 71 years of age, of the Slate Creek area, passed away Friday, March 14, 2003, in Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol Tennessee following a brief illness. Born in McDowell County, W.Va., Nov. 20, 1931, he was a son of the late William Edgar and Tishie Harper Blevins Goodall. He had been a resident of Buchanan County 45 years and was a member of Grundy Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a faithful member of the choir. He was a former employee of United Coal Corporation retiring in 1996. Mr. Blevins was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby Fife Blevins, Oct. 17, 1997; one brother, James Blevins; and his stepfather, Alvin Goodall. He is survived by one son, Jackie B. and wife, Nancy Blevins, Breaks, Va.; one brother, Muriel Edgar Blevins, Gadsden, Ala.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Renee and husband, Austin Crumpton, Wise, Jason Ryan and wife Amy Blevins, Bristol Virginia, and William Eric and wife Chrissy Blevins, Bristol Virginia; also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Grundy Baptist Church with Rev. Howell Scott officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Grundy Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
