Bristol Herald Courier Wednesday, November 27, 2002 Flora Church GRUNDY -- Flora Church, 84 years of age, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Grundy. Born in Buchanan County, Oct. 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Milton B. Ward and Sarah Stacy Ward. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of the Vansant Church of Christ and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gallie Church; one daughter, Patty Church; one son, Jackie Dean Church; five sisters; and four brothers. She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann Church and husband, William (Bill) of Grundy; four sons, Bobby Church and wife Carol of Abingdon, James (Jim) Church and wife Tippy, Danny Ray Church and wife Barbara and William David Church and wife Lisa, all of Grundy; one sister, Birdie Slone of Grundy; 11 grandchildren, Karen Dales, Leslie Stacy, Michael Church, Brad Hurley, Shannon Church, Steven Cory Church, Matthew Church, Tammy L. Ramey, Cody Church, Caleb Church and Chynna Rose Church; six great-grandchildren, Garrett Dales, Richelle Stacy, Derrick Stacy, Robert Canaan Ramey, Haley Church and Kacie Nichole Church; one great-great-grandchild , Kaylee Grace Robinett; four step-grandchildren, Jason Dales, Eric Sullivan, Gary Cooper and Cody McSwain Church; one foster-granddaughter, Darcy Coleman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, some of whom made their home with her. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelists Mike Rife, Michael Trent and Reverend Ancil Childress officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be nursing staff on Third, Fourth and ICU Unit of Buchanan General Hospital, nursing staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home of Grundy, Jean Deel, Madonna Cliston, Dr. J.G. Patel, Dr. J.N. Patel and Dr. John Starynski. The body will be left at the funeral home where friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday evening with services Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. The family of Flora Ward Church is being served by Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home of Grundy.
