Cole PILGRIM KNOB, Va. -- Mrs. Mona McNeil Cole, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Ms. Nancy Cole in Beckley, W.Va., following a lengthy illness. She was born in Whitewood, Va., and was a daughter of the late Robert Sheffey and Eva Compton McNeil, both Buchanan County, Va., natives. She had made her home in the Whitewood area most of her life and was a former postmaster at Pilgrim Knob for 22 years. She was of the Methodist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Kermit Fullen Cole; one daughter, Shirley Arlene Cole Fuqua; and two sisters, Cassie Cox and Carrie White. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors are her daughter, Ms. Nancy Jane Cole of Beckley. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Ancil Childress and Mr. Shelby Jewell officiating. Interment will follow in the Tom Ward Family Cemetery at Pilgrim Knob. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
