Dales GRUNDY -- Edna Iris Edwards Dales, 84 years of age, of the Little Prater Section, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, in Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born at Sneedville, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Nace and Estella Johnson Edwards. She had been a resident of Buchanan County several years and a member of Little Prater Church of Christ. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, Maw Maw and a homemaker. Mrs. Dales was preceded in death by her husband, Whetsel Blair Dales, Dec. 12, 1990. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Inis) Boyd, Cedar Bluff, Va., Mrs. Austin (Lois) McClanahan, Deleville, Ala., and Patricia Dales, Route 4, Grundy; three sisters, Maggie Delph, Paoli, Ind., Allie Newman, Jonesville, Va., and Nell Gibson, Hollyhill, Fla.; and one brother, Eugene Edwards, Blackstock, S.C. She is also survived by five grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Lee Dales; one great-grandson, Willard P. Boyd II; one son-in-law, Austin McClanahan; two sisters, Maude Ethel Edwards and Mary Barnes; and four brothers, Walter, Tom, Buford and N.R. Edwards. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Little Prater Church of Christ with Evangelist Michael Trent, Evangelist Faron Franklin and Evangelist Mike Rife officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. Friends may call at Little Prater Church of Christ Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. with services at 7 p.m. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Ratliff, Shirley Ratliff, Valerie Yates, Thurl Silcox, Sonny Matney, Sandi Waddell, John Shortt, Ann Shortt and men of Little Prater Church of Christ. Grundy Funeral Home of Grundy is in charge of all arrangements.
