Born in Pike County, Ky., he was a son of Lizzie Combs Dotson, Phelps, Ky., and the late William Dotson Jr. He had been a resident of Buchanan County several years and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He was a coal miner working as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Dotson is survived by his wife, Joyce Rife Dotson, Hurley; one daughter, Tonya Nicole Dotson, Hurley; one son, Ellery Chad Dotson, Hurley; one sister, Kathleen Dotson, Lexington, Ky.; and two brothers, Winston Dotson, Taylorsville, N.C., and Dusty Dotson, Taylorsville. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 15, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Stopover Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. Larry Rife, Hassell Rife, Mike Casey, Delbert Hurley and Samuel Dowdy officiating with burial to follow in the Rife Cemetery on Upper Elk Creek near Stopover, Ky. Friends may call at Stopover Freewill Baptist Church Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. with services Thursday and Friday evenings at 7 p.m. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Grundy Funeral Home of Grundy is in charge of all arrangements.
