Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late William and Susie Deskins Horn. He was a retired coal miner and had also lived in Indiana where he worked for the County Line Cheese Factory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mearl Virginia Brown Horn; two sisters, Nellie Keen and Polly Horn; and two brothers, Howard Horn and Hoover Horn. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Connie Honaker of Roanoke and Mrs. Debbie Elkins of Christiansburg; three brothers, Harrison Horn and Claude Horn, both of Abingdon, and Jay Horn of Marvin, Va.; six sisters, Charity Blankenship of Paintlick, Va., Tennessee Cantrell of Richlands, Canzis Rude, Donie Ferrell and Onie Brown, all of Indiana, and Lida Godbey of Contrary, Va.; four grandchildren, Ken Honaker, Tina Horn, Christopher Elkins and Alexandra Elkins; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb Horn and Kaylor Horn. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel at Keen Mountain, Va.,. with Rev. Johnny Godbey officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the Buchanan Funeral Service at Keen Mountain from 6 until 9 p.m. Sunday. Buchanan Funeral Service is serving the Horn family.
