McCall CLAYPOOL HILL, Va. -- Mr. Jerry Wayne "Sambo" McCall, 47, passed away Nov. 18, 2002, in a Cary, North Carolina hospital following a strong battle with a lengthy illness. He was born in Richlands and was the son of the late Frazier and Mary Bentley McCall, both Buchanan County natives. He had made his home in the Jewell Valley, Va., area most of his life and was a former employee of N&V Coal Co. of Whitewood, Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Brian McCall. Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Mitchell and husband, Wilkie of Jewell Ridge, Va., Ms. Debbie Breedlove and fiance, Tim Huffman of Claypool Hill, Va., and Ms. Tammy McCall and fiance, Randall "Fred" Blankenship Sr. of Cary; one brother, Mr. George F. "Stump" McCall and wife Wanda Sue of Woodbridge, Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at noon at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. David Horton officiating. Interment will follow at the Rosa Cole Family Cemetery in Jewell Valley, Va. Pallbearers will be Frank Goss, Wayne Cantrell, Jeff Sparks, David Hackworth, Wendell Mitchell, Lonnie Mitchell, Bobby Mitchell and Pat McCoy. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dwight Bailey, Wilkie Mitchell, Buford Mitchell, Layman Mitchell, Ed Mitchell and Roger Jackson.
