Born Dec. 23, 1928, in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Australia and Winnie Davis Justus. He was a retired coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelia Jean Justus, April 13, 1998; and two brothers, Hurshell and John Justus. Survivors: five sons, Steven Theodore Justus, Hurshel Justus, Jerry Justus and Danny Justus, all of Hurley and Tim Justus of Abingdon; four daughters, Jeanie Broyles and Janie Sullivan, Hurley, Lynn Hurley, Tazewell, Va., and Diane Nicewander, Bristol Virginia; six brothers, Sam Justus, Randelman, N.C., Bill Dewayne Justus and Bobby Justus, Sophia, N.C., Devan Hoke, Lancaster, S.C., Roger Justus, Trinity, N.C., and William Junior Justus, Hurley; seven sisters, Marie Dotson, Merlie Crockett, Linda Belle Nold of Cocoa Beach, Fla.,. Blanche Crockett, Lake City, Fla., Hannah Reynolds, Lincolnton, N.C., Jackie Smith, High Point, N.C., and Jewell Agruilar, Oceana, W.Va.; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, 1 p.m. at the Word Evangelistic Outreach Church at Wolford, Va., with Revs. Darrell Davis and Jeffery Allen Stacy officiating with burial to follow in the Wolford Cemetery at Wolford. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church where a service will be held at 7 p.m. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Clint Sutherland, Lee Hibbitts and David Brown. Virginia Funeral Home of Grundy is in charge of arrangements.
