Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Madison Hall and Polly Lester Hall Blankenship. She was a member of the Sulphur Springs Regular Baptist Church for 54 years, a graduate of the Presbyterian Church School in Hurley and Radford Teachers College. She was a former school teacher for the Buchanan County School System. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alford Justus. Mrs. Justus is survived by one daughter, Mattie Estep Dotson of Hurley; one son, Albert Estep of Mississippi; two sisters, Georgia Robair West of Abingdon and Lydia Roberts of Wolford, Va.; a special granddaughter, Sherry Estep of Detroit; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter; three sons; one sister; and two brothers. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Michael Trent officiating with burial to follow in the Levi Lester Cemetery on Pounding Mill Branch near Hurley. Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Friday and there will be an evening service at 7 p.m. Active pallbearers will be nephews, grandsons and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Blankenship, Chris Shortridge, Earl Gibbs, Keaster Shortridge, Rosie Thomas and Juanita Lester. Grundy Funeral Home of Grundy is in charge of all arrangements.
