King ABINGDON -- William Robert King, 32 years of age, formerly of Grundy, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C., following a short illness. Born in Radford, Va., he was a son of Elizabeth Ann Branham King, Abingdon, and the late Ronald Lee King. He was a resident of Grundy several years prior to moving to Abingdon and a member of Grundy United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Grundy Senior High School Class of 1988 and Virginia Polytechnic Institute May 1995. Bill was a former employee of VA-KY Broadcasting Company from 1996-1999, hosting the program on WMJD "B.K. in the Morning." He was an employee of Boise Office Products, Bristol Virginia. Mr. King was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Lee King, June 21, 1999. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Ann Branham King of Abingdon; two sisters: Kathryn Elizabeth and husband Bryan Hurley, Bristol Tennessee; and Anna Brooke King, Charlotte, N.C.; paternal grandmother, Mozelle King, Wytheville, Va.; also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and a myriad of friends. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, George and Edna (Matney) Branham; and paternal grandfather, Luther King. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 29, 2003, at 7 p.m. at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Mike Rife officiating, with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Friends may call at Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. with funeral services at 7 p.m. The funeral procession will depart Grundy Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday afternoon, March 30, 2003, at 1 p.m. with graveside rites at Mountain Valley Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Greg Rowe, Bryan Hurley, Craig Plymal, Jack Compton, Brian Ratliff, Tim Farmer, Taylor King, Bill Griffith, Shea Shrader, Gary Breeding, Pete Osborne, Kevin Merritt, Lance Branham, David Branham, Joe Branham and Scott Branham. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Porter, Randy Porter, Bill Porter, Dale Cox and Raymond Webb. Grundy Funeral Home of Grundy is in charge of all arrangements.
