Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Clyde and Lillie Mae McClanahan St Clair. He was a member of the Harman Memorial Baptist Church, owner of the St Clair Auto Sales at Keen Mountain, Va., member of the Grundy Lions Club, member of Sandy Valley Lodge 17 A.F. & A.M. , a member of the Scottish Rite of free masonry 32nd degree of Roanoke and a member of the Kazim Temple in Roanoke. He was a board member of the Willowbrook Country Club, was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealers Association. Mr. St Clair is survived by wife of 46 years, Jean Clevinger St Clair of Grundy; one son, Joe Franklin and wife Cathy St Clair of Keen Mountain, Va.; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth and husband Carey Addision of Rosedale, Va.; two sisters, Gearldine Stiltner of Harman, Va., and Phyllis Worley of Bristol Tennessee; one brother, Leon St Clair of Maxie, Va.; and three grandsons Carey Addison Jr., Nicholas John Addison and Jacob William St Clair. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willard Owens officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, Va. Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel after 5 p.m. Monday and there will be Masonic Rites conducted at 7 p.m. at the chapel followed immediately by regular services. Active pallbearers will be Bucky Blankenship, Fred Whitt, Kermit Clevinger, Tommie Joe Clevinger, Earl Elswick, Teddy Newsome, Freddie Dickey and Randy Looney. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Mullins, Gary Rose, Chester Long, Tivis O'quinn, Ikie Ratliff, Carmel Justice, Otis Elswick, Russell Bentley, Thurl Silcox, Earl Hurt, Jackie Mullins and Dr. Jackie Briggs. Grundy Funeral Home of Grundy is in charge of all arrangements.
