BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Glover Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Anthony Glover Graveyard: 1937 May 18 Research made by Elizabeth McCraw Cemetery Location: On private road 1 mile south of Alcoma, Virginia. Cemetery is at the end of the road. Buckingham County OWNERS: The burying ground has always been retained by the Glover family. DESCRIPTION: On the old Anthony Glover estate is the family burying ground, enclosed by a heavy iron fence. There are a number of large cedar trees, and flowering shrubs inside the fence, and while the ground is covered with periwinkle, the plot is clean and well kept. There are ten or twelve graves marked only with black rocks, which are moss covered with age. A large four sided granite monument is in the center of the graveyard in memory of the ones buried here and whose graves are not marked, and to the memory of the ones buried elsewhere. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following inscriptions were copied from the monument: Here Rest John Anthony Glover April 1, 1803 – June 5, 1872 And his wife Susan Tindall Glover April 24, 1796 – Jan. 1, 1872 And their son John Anthony Glover, Jr. Feb. 4, 1831 – April 1, 1841 Here also Rest Anthony Glover Born April 15, 1755 Ann Tindall, his widow, remarried and rests in the Lewis-Hocker burying ground in this county. She died May 27, 1838 in her 68th year. Father and mother of John Anthony Glover. There rests in the Samuel Glover Burying ground about one mile distant: Samuel Glover, Jr. June 2, 1759 – June 7, 1820 And his wife Mary Tindall March 7, 1762 – April 11, 1839 Father and Mother of Susan Tindall Glover (Sons and daughters resting elsewhere.) Samuel Anthony Glover Dec. 11, 1836 – Feb. 21, 1882 In Hollywood at Richmond, Va. Joseph Benning Glover Feb. 10, 1826 – Feb. 23, 1907 In Evergreen at Roanoke, Va.
