BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Kyle Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Kyle graveyard: 1937 Feb. 1 Research made by Elizabeth McCraw Cemetery Location: .3 mile west of Andersonville, Virginia, on Route #640, thence south on Route #637 for 2.9 miles, thence half mile on private road. Buckingham County DATE: 1836. The oldest grave marker. OWNERS: (blank) DESCRIPTION: This graveyard while neglected and frown up in honeysuckle and briers is interesting and historical. The Kyles were prominent socially and politically in their day. The last resting places shows the indelible marks of wealth and culture. The boxwood trees in and around the graves are large and handsome; the majestic old oaks still stand and the large pines sigh and moan. There are two graves covered with flat slabs of granite or marble, which is very dark with age, though the lettering is very plain and readable. There are two graves marked with small upright stones. Around one stone are two dogwood trees growing, one on each side of the stone. These will in time crush the stone. There are a number of unmarked graves.
