Hurt and Samuel Hamlet, Campbell County Deed Book 28, Page 281 This Indenture made and entered into this 4th day of September, 1851, between Richard S. Thornton, and Aramedia I. Thorton, his wife, Rewben E. Thornton, Francis Thornton, Edward C. Thornton and Maria E. Thornton his wife, James F. Maloney, and Elizabeth his wife formerly Elizabeth I. Thronton, Prudence W. Thornton, Mary A. W. Thornton, Lucy A. Thornton & Sarah F. Thornton of the first part, and James T. Hurt and Samuel Hamlet of the second part: Witnesses that the said Richard S. Thornton and his wife Aramedia I. Thorton, Rewben E. Thornton, Francis Thornton, Edward C. Thornton and Maria E. Thornton his wife, James F. Maloney, and Elizabeth I., his wife, Prudence W. Thornton, Mary A. W. Thornton, Lucy A. Thornton and Sarah F. Thornton for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred dollars to them in hand paid, by the said James T. Hunt and Samuel Hamlet, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, have bargained and sold, and by these present doth grant bargain and sell unto the said James T. Hurt and Samuel Hamlet, their heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation Twenty Eight acres, be the same more or less, situate and lying and being in the County of Campbell State of Virginia, on the water of Flat Creek, adjoining the lands of David Marshall, William Jordan and others. It being the same land on which their deceased father Francis W. Thornton resided: To have and to hold the said lands and all and singular the premises herein before mentioned or intended to be bargained and sold, and every part and parcel, with every of their rights and appurtenances unto the said James T. Hurt and Samuel Hamlet, their heirs & assigns forever. And the said Richard S. Thornton and Aramedia I. Thorton, his wife, Rewben E. Thornton, Francis Thornton, Edward C. Thornton and Maria E., his wife, James F. Maloney, and Elizabeth I., his wife, Prudence W. Thornton, Mary A. W. Thornton, Lucy A. Thornton and Sarah F. Thornton for themselves, and their heirs, the said tract or parcel, with all and singular the premises & appurtenances before mentioned unto the said James T. Hurt and Samuel Hamlett their heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of these, their heirs, or either of them, or their heirs and all & every person or persons whomsoever shall and will, and do warrant and forever defend by these presents: In witness whereof the aforesaid first parties have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals, the day and date above written.
