Their son, Benjamin, married Agnes, the daughter of Christopher and Penelope Clark. Of their children, Sarah m. David Terrell;-Christopher m. Betty Moorman;—Agnes m. Adam Clement;—William m. Susanna Johnson;—Benjamin m. Mary . . .;—Penelope . . .;—Collins . . .; —Edward. In 1763 Benjamin, Jr., and Mary Johnson, settled on Ivy creek. He died in 1769 and his widow married, 2nd, John Miller, and moved to Lynchburg when that town became established. John Johnson, son of John and Lucretia M. Johnson, m. Elizabeth, dau. of Gerard Ellyson, and settled in Amelia county. Children: —Ashley m., 1st, Agatha Stanley; m., 2nd, Mary Watkins;— Jesse m. Elizabeth Watkins;—John m. Lydia Watkins;— James m., 1st, Mildred Moorman; m., 2nd, Penelope Anthony; —Gerard m. Judith Watkins;—William m. Agatha Moorman. Ashley and Mary Watkins-Johnson moved from Amelia and settled in Campbell in 1793; John and Lydia W. Johnson settled on Ivy creek in 178O; James Johnson bought 17O acres of land from William Candler adjoining Edward Bright and James Callaway, in 1768, upon which he settled but moved a year later to McDuffie county, Georgia. Gerard and Judith W. Johnson moved in 1790 to Campbell. He died in 1810; his will, recorded in 1811 provided real and personal property for his wife, gave his 3 daughters, Jean Terrell, Judith Morgan and Elizabeth Johnson, the tract of land upon which Samuel Smithson lived, gave his two eldest daughters property they had in possession, John W. the property in his possession (John moved to Ohio in 1811 ); Samuel, being incapable of managing an estate, his portion and that of Elizabeth were left in charge of-Gerard, Jr., to whom was given the tract upon which his father lived and property lent his mother. Gerard, and friends, John Organ and Henry Brown were appointed executors. William and Agatha Johnson moved to Campbell in 1789. James, Ashley and Charles Johnson served in the patriot army during the Revolution. Many of the Johnson family intermarried with the Moormans, five daughters of Micajah Moorman marrying Johnsons. A large number of the Johnsons moved from Campbell. In 18O6 Christopher and Milly, with 3 children, moved to Miami Meeting, Ohio; Rhoda Johnson and 7 children moved to Ohio in 1809; James Johnson and wife Rachel and 6 children moved to Fairfield, O., in 1810; Samuel and Susanna and 9 children in 181O; Joseph Johnson, Jr., in 1811; Wm. And Susanna in 1812 to Fairfield; Wm., Jr., .to Plainfield; Zeptha Johnson moved to Salem, O., and Christopher Anthony Johnson to Miami in 1814-; Joseph and his wife, 6 children, and grandson, Alfred Carroll Johnson, moved to Ohio in 1813; James Johnson came to South river in 1775 from .New Garden, N. C.; David Johnson in 1780 and James in 1781. Mary in 1782 from Cedar Creek Meeting. Gerard and Judith Johnson and children, Benjamin, Samuel, Gerard, Jr., Watkins, David, Elizabeth and Jane came from Cedar Creek in 179O and Ashley, Sr., and wife, Mary W., with their minor children, Ashley, Jr., Thomas, Watkins, Drucilla, Anna and Edith in 1793.
