Three half brothers, Richmond, Pleasant and Samuel, came with him, married three Anderson sisters in Campbell and moved west. Richard Tyree in 18O6 m. Mildred Y. Douglass. Bought lot 1O4, Sixth alley and Third street at Lynchburg in 1808 from John Lynch and built a home there. Richard Tyree was inspector of tobacco at Liberty Warehouse, 1811-12-13. Children:—John Henley, born 18O6, m. Ann Phoebe, dau. of Samuel and Phoebe Walton-Bransford. He purchased land about three miles below Lynchburg upon which he built the house still standing at Tyreeanna, named for himself and his wife. Children:—Cora V., m. Thomas L. Johnson of Lynchburg; —Elizabeth B., m. Samuel W. Younger of Lynchburg:-Charles Hudson, m. Bettie M. Sclater; served in the Confederate army, wounded at Drury's Bluff, and died at his father's home in 1864;—Samuel Bransford, C. S. soldier, killed at battle of Seven Pines;—Rosa Kent, m. William S. (C. S. veteran) son of James D. and Ann E. Wms. Gregory;—Walter Preston, m. Martha, dau. of Colonel Logan Anderson;—Ann Ammonette, m. Charles Sinton of Richmond. —Achilles D., m. Martha Tisdale McKinney. -Elizabeth D., m. Moses Hurt, son of Isaac and Sallie Hurt-Preston. —Sallie Johnson, m. Andrew C. Elliott. —Judith Ellen married Charles Simpson. -Anna Lynch married Moses Lacy. -Samuel, m. Marion Fontaine Cabell, dau. of Captain Spotswood Henry. —Mildred D., m. George G. Williams. John H. and Samuel Tyree were successful tobacconists in Lynchburg; later Samuel Tyree engaged in real estate business which still bears the name Tyree and Wilkins. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
